Oops! Shah Rukh Khan's private conversation with daughter goes public

Shah Rukh Khan shares a close bond with daughter Suhana
It was almost a comedy of errors for Shah Rukh Khan recently. While the actor was rehearsing for an award show, the crew accidentally heard King Khan's conversation with his daughter Suhana on the phone.

SRK was busy rehearsing his lines with Saif Ali Khan and the crew, when he was interrupted by a phone call. A source says, "While the two were fine-tuning their script, SRK got a call and all the activity on the set screeched to a halt."

Apparently it was Suhana on the line and the doting daddy and she had a typical father-daughter conversation, while SRK's lapel mike was still attached.

The source adds, "Shah Rukh was happily chatting away with her. Suhana asked him what he was up to and he asked his daughter about her forthcoming day at school. He also asked Suhana if she was going to attend the show in the evening."

The crew was privy to their entire conversation and there were whispers about switching the mike off. And once SRK had hung up, the entire crew burst out in laughter. The source adds, "Shah Rukh Khan had no clue about what had just happened. Later, he smiled and went back to his lines."

Shahrukh Khan: I will only talk about my films now

He ticked off those who were offering him 'unsolicited advice' by his emphatic words like - ''We in India are extremely safe and happy. We have an amazing democratic, free and secular way of life. In the environs that we live here in my country India, we have no safety issues regarding life or material.''

That was not all. Badshah Khan has also learnt an important lesson after the controversy that broke out in the media over his New York Times article. He thinks celebs are soft-targeted by those who 'use religion as an anchor for unrest and a policy of divide and rule.' He has decided to stick to talking about his profession and films since he does not see the right kind of media atmosphere to comment on anything else. He is wary that the media will 'sensationalize and trivialize matters of national interest and religion' and drag him, a movie actor, into it. And he simply wants to get back to doing what he does best....making movies.

He has requested the media that henceforth he should be asked questions about his films, and the activities and events associated with them as the '24 hrs of unrequired controversy is more than enough' for everyone.

Shahrukh Khan is scapegoat for politicians?

Shahrukh Khan is scapegoat for politicians?

Why Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan is prey to almost all the extremists and politicians? be it Hindu or Muslims, India or Pakistan? What has the star done that he is dragged into baseless controversies every now and then? Is the actor's popularity used for grabbing limelight by others? We wonder.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik played a perfect diplomat and dragged Khan in mud by making 'non-sense' remarks related to star's security.

Showing his over concern towards the actor's security, he said, "The Indian government should provide security to actor Shahrukh." Which obviously miffed Indians and a whole lot of counter comments were heaped on Malik.

Previously, Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed had invited SRK to shift to Pakistan if the superstar is feeling secure in India. Now, Malik has added fuel to the fire with his recent statement.

Needless to mention that India is democratic country and everyone has the right to express himself. SRK, earlier pointed at the cons of being a Muslim in general and said, "I sometimes become the inadvertent object of political leaders who choose to make me a symbol of all that they think is wrong and unpatriotic about Muslims in India."

"There have been occasions when I have been accused of bearing allegiance to our neighboring nation rather than my own country, this even though I am an Indian, whose father fought for the freedom of India. Rallies have been held where leaders have exhorted me to leave and return what they refer to my original homeland," he added.

Let's forget that Shahrukh is a renowned name. In that situation, what's wrong if any Indian citizen expresses his/her concerns over self respect and security.

It seems that the politicians in both the countries somewhere wish to parasitize over Khan's stardom and reap benefits out of it. Rationally thinking, it would be wrong to target a professional for personal interest.

Radha puts Shahrukh Khan, Gauri, KJo in trouble again

Radha puts Shahrukh Khan, Gauri, KJo in trouble again

Recently, an FIR was issued against Shahrukh Khan, Gauri Khan and Karan Johar for supposedly offending religious sentiments in the song Radha from Student of the Year, which depicted the Hindu goddess in an inappropriate manner.

Initially, the latest reports give details saying that the stars have received a stay order over the criminal proceedings.

Justice Gopal Prasad of the Patna High Court has passed an order staying the criminal proceedings against Shahrukh, Gauri and Karan Johar, said a leading website.

The FIR lodged against the team by Sudhir Kumar Ojha in Muzaffarpur, has been asked to file a reply in response to the stay over the matter.

The movie Student Of The Year was directed by Karan Johar, and was co-produced by SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment and Karan's Dharma Productions. The song Radha starred Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.

Don't need unsolicited advice, we are safe in India: Shah Rukh Khan

The controversy about Shah Rukh Khan is rooted in a magazine article he wrote last week titled 'Being a Khan'.
After a Pakistani minister expressed concern over the safety of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and asked India to give him adequate security, the actor said on Tuesday, "I would like to tell all those who are offering me unsolicited advice that we in India are extremely safe and happy. We have an amazing democratic, free and secular way of life."

The controversy over one of India's biggest and most adored celebrities is rooted in a magazine article he wrote last week titled 'Being a Khan'.

Rejecting the debate it has spawned as "nonsense", the actor said at a press conference in Mumbai, "I don't even understand the basis of this controversy. Ironically, the article I wrote - yes it is written by me - was actually meant to reiterate that on some occasions my being an Indian Muslim film star is misused by bigots and narrow-minded people who have misplaced religious ideologies for very, very small gains. And ironically the same has happened through this article once again."

In the piece in Outlook Turning Point, the 47-year-old had written, "There have been occasions when I have been accused of bearing allegiance to our neighbouring nation rather than my own country - this even though I am an Indian, whose father fought for the freedom of India. Rallies have been held where leaders have exhorted me to leave and return what they refer to my original homeland."

In reaction, over the weekend, Jamaat-ud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, who India holds responsible for its worst-ever terror attack, said the star could move to Pakistan. Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik said yesterday, "He (Shah Rukh) is born Indian and he would like to remain Indian, but I will request the government of India (to) please provide him security."

The Indian government was cutting in its response.

"We are quite capable of looking after the security of our own citizens... let him (Malik) worry about security of his own," Home Secretary RK Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

Shah Rukh Khan launches Times of India Film Awards

Shah Rukh Khan called himself very fortunate to be a part of the TOIFA Awards launch ceremony.
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan launched the Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA) awards Tuesday evening and called himself very fortunate to be a part of the ceremony.

"I feel very fortunate to be here. It is a fantastic platform. It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of it," he told the media at a press conference to announce the awards.

The awards will be held from April 4-6 in Vancouver, Canada and will be hosted by Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

Talking about the award ceremony, Shah Rukh said it stands for class, goodness and honesty.

Ace choreographer Shiamak Davar is also a part of the project. He and Shah Rukh will be making plans soon for the ceremony.

"I would be performing at the function. It is just a couple of months away. I have just landed and was under the weather with a cold. But as soon as I recover I will be meeting Shiamak and planning for the awards," Shah Rukh said.

Stardom means nothing to me, says Shah Rukh Khan

"Now I like to do one film a year, take time off, sit with the kids," says SRK. (Image: AFP)
With numerous mega-hits in his filmography which spans over two decades in Hindi cinema, Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan sits pretty on the pinnacle of success, but says stardom means nothing to him.

"It (stardom) means nothing to me. All I know is to work from morning to night. I don't know what it (stardom) means to me. I work almost 18 hours a day. The biggest thing in life is to define the reason for your success because I don't know it. I think you are dishonest if you explain it because I can't pass it on to my daughter and son, nobody can," SRK told PTI.

In 2012, 'King' Khan had only one release - Yash Chopra's Jab Tak Hai Jaan opposite Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. The film was a huge hit. Even this year, the superstar will have only Rohit Shetty's 'Chennai Express' hitting the cinema houses.

On whether it is a conscious decision to slow down, SRK said, "No it is not... I do one film at a time. Now I like to do one film a year, take time off, sit with the kids. And I feel you can't make four-five films a year. I think it spoils the quality. I want to do quality films. I want people to talk about my film whenever it comes out... be it good, bad or ugly."

"I got injured in between and then Yashji (Yash Chopra) wanted me to start working on his film first so we waited for the girls to get free. I could afford to have started a film but I chose not to. So I spent time with kids. Before that I did Don and Ra.One, both of which were action films... and it takes time," the 47-year-old actor said.

"I wanted to start Happy New Year in January... we were to start shooting for a song. But then I spoke to Farah (Khan) that we will start in one go and continue it. I told her 'let me finish Chennai Express in April-May and then start it'," he added.

On whether injuries made him decide to do one film a year, SRK said, "No it is not like that at all. I don't have problems with breathing or any other injury. I do films as they come. I can afford to do the film that I want to do at the time I wish to... I worked for it for 22 years."

About Chennai Express, he said, "The film is a journey in the South. It is about how we believe our culture and languages are different but love conquers all. So it is a fun way to show that. It is a film which is fun, people meet from different zones."

Citing an example, SRK said, "My mother is from Hyderabad and my father is from Peshawar and I have always noticed this funny act.. she used to speak in Hyderabadi and he used to speak in Pashtun. Different ideologies but love conquered all. So the film is a treatment of a romance in the travel down South of a man who is from North."

The story is about a man's journey from Mumbai to Rameshwaram and what happens on the way. The romantic comedy, also starring Deepika Padukone, is scheduled to release this year.

On the relatable characters that he has portrayed in his filmy career, Shah Rukh said, "I do the film character as a job. If I am given a character to play I do it with the best of my ability. I live it, believe in it, just do it, then leave it and let go off to do another one."

"I liked doing Chak De, I liked Mohan Bhargav (Swades), Rahul and Raj from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jayenge respectively, Sunil in Darr," he said.

"If you mix it all then I am a confused personality. None of the roles that I have played till now are close to me. But all of them take upon experiences of what I have seen, read or felt in my life, none of them are far removed from them. I think every actor when essaying a role is about an experience or thought or believe he or she has. I also liked My Name is Khan but I am not any of my characters," he added.

I should just talk about Rs 100 crore club: Shah Rukh Khan

SRK is in the midst of a controversy sparked by an article called ‘Being a Khan’ he wrote for a magazine.
Upset by the controversy over his article on being a Muslim, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan says he has always stood for secularism, religious tolerance and a sense of humour but he now feels he should just talk about the Rs 100 crore club or his heroines.

Referring to his first person article in Outlook Turning Point, published in association with The New York Times, he said it was secular and happy.

"It does not in any way construe anything. It is the most secular article and happy article. I wrote it for my kids and I said that they should read this," Shah Rukh told IANS in an interview on Tuesday night after a day of controversy that saw India and Pakistan sparring.

While Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the Indian government should give Shah Rukh security, India's Information Minister Manish Tewari and Home Secretary R.K. Singh retorted that they were quite capable of looking after their own. Before that, Jamaat-ud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed had said the star could move to Pakistan following his comments on being a Muslim.

Clearly disturbed by the turn of events following his article, Shah Rukh said: It has been a good and extremely blessed life but there are certain things which I have stood for and I want people to know that. I have stood for secularism, religious tolerance, sense of humour, sports and I want people to know."

"But when something like this happens, then I feel that maybe you are happy knowing about the Rs 100 crore club or my heroines, and that's what I will talk about."

Discussing his write-up, Shah Rukh said he spoke about stereotypical assumptions of what a Pathan and a Muslim should be like, which he is not.

"There are three givens for a Khan or a Pathan. One is he should be 6ft 2in tall and handsome; I am not that. The article talks about that Muslims should be like XYZ. The third one talks about if you are a celebrity, you should behave like this (in a certain way), which I don't," he said.

"I have written that in spite of all the cynicism surrounding me, I have not been touched by this cynicism because of the love I get in my country. And suddenly I get this (reaction)," he added.

Shah Rukh said he likes to write and tell people about his experiences in life, but feels he was wrong to think that he could share it with people through his write-up.

"I like to write about my experiences and tell people. When I talk about life to my children, they sit and listen to me, I think they will imbibe something like I did with my parents. And I wrongfully thought that I can do it to a lot of other people (through my story)," he said.

The actor also admits he feels completely safe in India and was very upset about the fact that most of the people haven't even read his article and were making assumptions.

"I feel safe, confident and happy and that's why I wrote this. Everyone is reading a report of a report of someone, who doesn't know what I have written. Not one person has read it. It is a good article and it's funny and sweet," he said.

Shah Rukh Khan Makes His Stand Clear In An Impassioned Statement

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan has finally spoken out over the recent controversy surrounding his article. It was alleged that he had written extensively about the problems faced by him in the country, owing to his religion. There was severe criticism about this in the media as well as among the people. Things got out of control when the Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik requested the Indian government to provide adequate security to the superstar. Furthermore, Hafiz Saeed, the alleged mastermind of the 26/11 attacks, also invited Shah Rukh Khan to shift to Pakistan.

Well, finally the King Khan has given his statement. In an impassioned speech, the actor said, "According to me, all our lives we are defined by three identities.

Two of which are fortunately acquired by birth  and are a matter of unconditional love and acceptance.

The first identity is acquired by where one is born. Our Motherland. That defines us. So foremost all of us here like me are proud Indians.

Second the family name and upbringing that our parents give us. Mine is Khan, like some of us here. I am very proud of my parents, like all of us are here. I love them unconditionally.

The third is the profession we choose that defines us. By some quirk of fate I am a celebrity… a public figure in the fields of art and media. Like most of us are here today.

As I said being an Indian and my parents’ child is an unconditional accepted truth of my life and I am very proud of both.

The third… being a public figure makes me open to any kind of questioning, adjectives good and bad and or  sometimes makes me an object  of controversy  as people  use my name and statements to attach any positive or negative sentiment to it. I accept all the above  because this is the life I chose and will stand by it.  I am what I am, because of the love and admiration that comes with being who I am in my profession…so I thank everyone for making me the star I am.

Now to  address this whole issue, with regards to my Article, that has taken an unwarranted twist . I do not even understand the basis of this controversy.

Ironically the article I wrote (yes its written by me) was actually meant to reiterate that on some occasions my being an Indian Muslim film star is misused by bigots and narrow minded people who have misplaced religious ideologies for small gains….and ironically the same  has happened through  this article…once again.

The reason for this primarily is….I think some of the people have not even read it and are reacting to comments of people, who in turn have also not read it. So I implore you all to first read it.

Second if you read it, nowhere does the article state or imply directly or indirectly that I feel unsafe….troubled or disturbed in India.

It does not even vaguely say that I am ungrateful for the love that I have received in a career spanning 20 years. On the contrary the article only says that in spite of bigoted thoughts of some of the people that surround us….I am untouched by skepticism  because of the love I have received by my countrymen and women.

I will paraphrase the beginning and the end of the article to clarify and substantiate my stand.

“Then, there is the image I most see, the one of me in my own country: being acclaimed as a megastar, adored and glorified, my fans mobbing me with love and apparent adulation.

So I am a Khan, but no stereotyped image is factored into my idea of who I am. Instead, the living of my life has enabled me to be deeply touched by the love of millions of Indians. I have felt this love for the last 20 years regardless of the fact that my community is a minority within the population of India. I have been showered with love across national and cultural boundaries, they appreciate what I do for them as an entertainer – that’s all. My life has led me to understand and imbibe that love is a pure exchange, untempered by definition and unfettered by the narrowness of limiting ideas.

Sometimes, they ask me what religion they belong to and, like a good Hindi movie hero, I roll my eyes up to the sky and declare philosophically, “you are an Indian first and your religion is Humanity”, or sing them an old Hindi film ditty, “tu hindu banega na musalmaan banega – insaan ki aulaad hai insaan banega” set to Gangnam style.

Why should not the love we share be the last word in defining us instead of the last name? It doesn’t take a superstar to be able to give love, it just takes a heart and as far as i know, there isn’t a force on this earth that can deprive anyone of theirs. I am a Khan, and that’s what it has meant being one, despite the stereotype images that surround me. To be a Khan has been to be loved and love back….”

Please I implore everyone here to read the article and convey through your respective mediums of communications, all the good things that it
expresses  to youngsters and my fellow Indians. It is a heartfelt and extremely important aspect of my life, an appreciation of love that all of you have bestowed upon me and also a point of view from my being a father of two young children

I would like to tell all those who are offering me unsolicited advice that we in India are extremely safe and happy. We have an amazing democratic, free and secular way of life. In the environs that we live here in my country India, we have no safety issues regarding life or material. As a matter of fact it is irksome for me to clarify this non-existent issue. With respect I would like to say to anyone who is interpreting my views and offering advice regarding them, please read what I have written first.

Also some of the views that I have been made to read are just an extension of soft targeting celebs and creating an atmosphere of emotional outbursts and divisiveness based on religion…in the minds of some. I implore everyone to understand, that my article is against exactly this kind of giving in to propaganda and aggressiveness. Lets not be misled by tools which use religion as an anchor for unrest and a policy of divide and rule.

I would also like to add here, that my profession as an actor makes me, liked beyond the borders of my nation and culture. The hugs and love that I am showered upon by Nationalities all around the world, make me safe all over the globe, and my safety has genuinely never been a matter of concern to me…and so it should not be a matter of concern to anyone else either.

We are all educated and patriotic people. We do not have to prove that time and again because of divisive politics of a few. My own family and friends, are like a mini India…where all religions, professions and a few wrongs included, all are treated with tolerance and understanding and regard for each other. I only sell love…love that I have got from millions of Indians and non Indians….and  stand indebted to my audience in my country and around the world. It is sad that I have to say it to prove it, in my country, which my father fought for, during the Independence struggle.

That’s my piece and having said all this…I would like to request all of you present here….that henceforth ask me questions regarding….my next movie. The songs that I have recorded. The release date of my film. The heroines cast in it. The Toiffa awards in Vancouver, because I am an actor and maybe I should just stick to stuff that all of you expect me to have a viewpoint on. The rest of it…maybe I don’t have the right kind of media atmosphere to comment on. So I will refrain from it.

And please if you can…put all I have said on your channels, or mediums of communication, in the exact same light as I have said it and meant it in. 24 hrs of unrequired controversy is more than enough for all of us I assume. So do not sensationalize and hence trivialize matters of national interest and  religion any further and drag a movie actor  in the middle of it all…and let me  get back to doing what I do best….making movies."

Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif booked for Valentine’s Day!

Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif booked for Valentine’s Day!

Come this Valentine’s Day, Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif would most likely be together and dancing to romantic songs.

Don’t start getting ideas, it’s just that the two Bollywood stars are set to perform live on stage at a show in Muscat in the coming month of February and the day most likely will be the Valentine’s Day, when the organizers hope to pull maximum footfalls to the concert.

Though Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif have earlier performed together at an award function last year, this would be their first live performance in a concert abroad. Expectedly, the duo will groove to their songs from Jab Tak Hai Jaan and SRK will also serenade the pretty Kat in the songs ‘Ishq Shava’ and others from the film.

Talk of Katrina Kaif performing with Shahrukh Khan in a concert has been doing the rounds for quite a while, and the gig was slated to happen right after the recent Salman Khan-Priyanka Chopra concert in Dubai. However, when Salman’s concert flopped (with more than half the auditorium empty), the organizers in Muscat decided to plan the SRK concert such that it’s a surefire hit.

We hear the SRK-Kat concert will also feature performances by Preity Zinta and Ali Zafar

Shah Rukh Khan respects women a lot: Anushka Sharma

She romanced him in her first movie 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' and then wooed him in 'Jab Hai Jaan'. Anushka Sharma says that superstar Shah Rukh Khan is the most romantic actor, both on and off the screen.
"You really have to ask me that question? Obviously Shah Rukh Khan. On screen and off-screen, everywhere, it's Shah Rukh Khan," she told reporters when asked to name the most romantic hero.
She was speaking at the unveiling of Geetanjali's Valentine jewellery collection Thursday.

"He (SRK) respects women a lot and I think that is something extremely nice. He is extremely charming," added the model-turned actress who is five-year-old in filmdom.
Expression of love may be larger-than-life in movies, but in real life, Anushka feels love is all about small gestures and not grand displays.
"It (love) is a very subjective thing. To me, I prefer simplicity. I will find love in very small gestures and not in big displays or ways like booking a whole restaurant and all," Anushka said.
"I think it's more about small, small things - like when unexpectedly someone can shower you with love and attention. To me that's more special," she added.
Often seen as chirpy and bubbly girl on celluloid, Anushka's last outing was 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola' where she was featured as spunky girl.
Her forthcoming projects are 'Bombay Velvet' and 'PK' with superstar Aamir Khan.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, whose earnings between October 2011 and September 2012 amounted to Rs.202.8 crore, has topped the inaugural Forbes India Celebrity 100 list.
The list, a ranking of India’s biggest entertainers based on their income and popularity, also features Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the second and third spot, respectively.

Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Kareena Kapoor, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Katrina Kaif are amont the top 10.

Both Salman and Dhoni are ahead of Shah Rukh in terms of popularity and fame, but King Khan occupies the top spot courtesy his earning power, mainly riding on massive income from brand endorsements, according to the official website of the magazine.
By Forbes India estimates, SRK, who also features on the magazine’s cover, earned Rs 202.8 crore, compared to Salman’s Rs 144.2 crore and Dhoni’s Rs 135.16 crore in the said period.
The Forbes India’s special edition “decodes what lies behind the success of India’s biggest creative entrepreneurs across eight categories: film actors, directors, sport stars, TV personalities, singers/musicians, authors, models and comedians”,it said
The list was arrived at after a rigorous data collection process that considered the celebrities’ income (from the business of entertainment) and fame (as measured by media mentions, online presence and social media followers) in a definite time period.
Dhoni, captain of the Indian cricket team, is the top sportsperson, while Oscar-winning composer A.R.Rahman leads the pack of singers/musicians and is the only representative of the category in the top 20.
Malaika Arora Khan is the leading TV personality, and Karan Johar is the most powerful director. Author Chetan Bhagat, comedian Vir Das and model Esha Gupta topped their respective categories.

Shah Rukh outranks Salman in earning and popularity; tops Forbes India's 'Celebrity 100' list

Shah Rukh Khan has topped the inaugural Forbes India Celebrity 100 list, a ranking of India's biggest entertainers based on their income and popularity. Salman Khan and MS Dhoni, who closely followed SRK in the ranking, might be more famous, but King Khan landed at No 1 in the Celebrity 100, thanks to his earning power.
Forbes India estimates Shah Rukh earned Rs 202.8 crore, compared to Salman's Rs 144.2 crore and Dhoni's Rs 135.16 crore between October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012. Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan are the other two celebrities in the top 5.
The ranking is a part Forbes India's special edition that decoded what lies behind the success of India's biggest creative entrepreneurs. The special edition has features, essays, interviews, infographics and snippets on the various facets of Indian entertainment industry.
"Today, India doesn't quite have a creative economy that is as big and vibrant as a country of a billion people ought to have. As incomes rise and basic needs get covered, spends on entertainment will sky-rocket, as we've seen with IPL cricket. Shahrukh Khan bares his heart about being a Muslim in post 9/11 world

Shahrukh Khan bares his heart about being a Muslim in post 9/11 world

Shahrukh Khan talks about what it means to be a Muslim in India and how his patriotism has at times been misconstrued by some powers that be.

Superstar Shahrukh Khan bares it all on what it means to be a Muslim in the Post-9/11 world and how he became an "inadvertent object of political leaders" in first person account for Outlook Turning Points magazine, published in association with The New York Times newspaper. He also features on the cover of the publication.

Titled "Being a Khan", the write-up appears in the current issue of the magazine and the 47-year-old actor, one of the few Indian actors with international recognition, writes: "I sometimes become the inadvertent object of political leaders who choose to make me a symbol of all that they think is wrong and unpatriotic about Muslims in India."

"There have been occasions when I have been accused of bearing allegiance to our neighbouring nation rather than my own country - this even though I am an Indian, whose father fought for the freedom of India. Rallies have been held where leaders have exhorted me to leave and return what they refer to my original homeland," added the superstar of Hindi cinema.

Shahrukh Khan is married to Gauri Khan, a Hindu, and has two children - Aryan and Suhana.

"I gave my son and daughter names that could pass for generic (pan-India and pan-religious) ones - Aryan and Suhana. The Khan has been bequeathed by me so they can't really escape it."

"I pronounce it with my epiglottis when asked by Muslims and throw the Aryan as evidence of their race when non-Muslims enquire. I imagine this will prevent my offspring from receiving unwarranted eviction orders or random fatwas in the future," he wrote.
He said he became so sick of being mistaken for some crazed terrorist, "who co-incidentally carries the same name as mine that I made a film subtly titled 'My Name Is Khan' (and I am not a terrorist) to prove a point."

Set in the post 9/11 US, "My Name Is Khan" focuses on religious and national identities through Rizwan (SRK), who has Asperger's Syndrome, and how his Khan identity becomes all important in a suspicious America.

"Ironically, I was interrogated at the airport for hours about my last name when I was going to promote the film in America for the first time," said SRK.

Shah Rukh Khan feels his jokes are often misinterpreted

There aren't many actors in Bollywood who can match Shah Rukh Khan's spontaneity when it comes to sense of humour. The charismatic actor, who always speaks his mind, was also a part of several controversies last year. Nonetheless, King Khan feels the media can do away with certain stories in 2013 as they keep repeating themselves.

Currently shooting for Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express, the actor has already attracted buzz for avoiding one-time good friend Arjun Rampal at the recent launch of Dabboo Ratnani's 2013 calendar.

"With all my love and respect, I want the journalists to sit down at the beginning of the year and decide which stories to bury for good. The rule should state in bold letters: Promise karo ki aaj ke baad iss story par kaam nahi karoge... The fact is not only us - people from the film industry - but even the readers are fed up of reading the same imaginary rivalries again and again," said Shah Rukh Khan.

He further added that he'll ask Javed Akhtar to pass a bill to this effect in the Parliament. "Most of the stories I come across are not only embarrassing but also lack imagination. Even if film journos are pathetic reporters, they are brilliant fiction writers. So why not continue to remain creative and write original imaginative crap?" asked the witty actor.

Lastly, the superstar turns his attention to press conferences where he feels his jokes are often misinterpreted. "I'd love to attend a press event and not be asked how the four Khans - no, actually five, now that Kareena is also a Khan! - are working hard on messing the good life of one another. And when I reply in jest, unnecessary rows are created. In fact, I've even stopped joking at such places," said SRK.

Shahrukh Khan’s pizza outing with Juhi Chawla

Spotted: Shahrukh Khan’s pizza outing with Juhi Chawla

Shahrukh Khan was spotted with his close friends Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta at the launch of the new eatery Pizza Metro Pizza at Bandra in Mumbai.

The trio, owners of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, were seen in a gay mood and happily posed for the photographers at the joint. We hear they also celebrated the birthday of Jay Mehta, because the Mehta family, including Jay Mehta’s grandmom Menza, was also spotted.

Shahrukh Khan, true to his socializing self, didn’t just smile at the cameras and drove away. Seeing that a horde of fans had gathered outside, he did make time to meet them. He shook hands with them, spoke to them. Must say when it comes to reciprocating the love of the fans, few can match SRK in Bollywood.

The last few days have been very busy for Shahrukh Khan. He’s been attending various dos tirelessly. At 47, the superstar is as energetic as a 27 year-old.

Shah Rukh Khan: The age of conventional jobs is over

Demonstrating true sportsman's spirit and enthusiasm, superstar Shah Rukh Khan backs sports as a profession. He says it should be considered a good job opportunity and that parents must be educated about how games can be a viable career option for their children.
"Parents will always be wary of sports as a profession and I don't see why they should not be...Parents will have to see that there is a job opportunity here," he said at the launch of Toyota university cricket championship held here Thursday.
Owner of Kolkata Knight Riders Indina Premier League (IPL) team, he added: "I am a big speaker of sports as a commercial success. Parents should know that it can be a salary job. Your kids will be proud of you."
A sports lover, the 47-year-old is willing to support every sport in the country.
"My movies has given me the position of a brand ambassador of a certain caliber. I would like to utilize it in whatever way possible for the sports," he said.
"I actually would like to be the brand ambassador of any sport in the country. I am good at sports. I love sports. I like cricket. Hockey is the best game in the world," he added.
However, what bothers him is that even today children can't confidently say that "they want to be a professional sportsman".
"In the last 25 years, because of the advent of technology, story writers and all, a lot of people want to be in media and films. The age of conventional jobs is over."
"But I think we have not reached that stage in our country where children can come up and say I want to make sports my job and be a professional sportsperson," he added.
Other than cricket, King Khan also wants to encourage football in India.
"We are the only nation who are on the threshold of development and we don't have a good football team," he said and added the most of the developing nations have it 'as it is a cheapest sport'.
The actor, who is associated with the hit sports-themed movie 'Chak De! India', a film that put the women's hockey under spotlight, feels the condition of women sports hasn't changed much.
"I haven't seen a change. Films reflect society and show the condition of women's sports. It is sad that the situation is like this. I really think it is more important for women to come up. We keep talking about rights and protection, but I feel one of the biggest things for women is to divert their energies and attention to promote women's sport," he said.
Talking about the motto of his team Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh said: "My team has only one plan, go win the match and win the IPL championship."

Abhay Deol & Shahrukh Khan face of same brand!

Abhay Deol seems to have landed himself a big endorsement deal. We're informed that the actor has been chosen as the Indian face of Tag Heuer's new range of wrist watches.

ABHAY DEOL and SHAHRUKH KHAN

However, Shahrukh Khan continues to be the international ambassador (and the Indian face of a specific collection) for the watch brand. And they have roped in Abhay as the Indian face for it due to his unconventional image and attitude.

We also hear that, for its new collection the brand is going to pay homage to 70 rebels from across the world in a photographic testimonial campaign. Though nothing has been confirmed from the actor.

Katrina Kaif, Shahrukh Khan thank Sridevi!

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif could not contain her happiness when she received the Zee Cine Award for the Best International Icon Female. And her happiness was doubled when she realized that the prestigious award was going to be presented to her by her idol, actress Sridevi.

SRIDEVI,

With a radiant smile Katrina said, ''Well I think first and most importantly, it's huge honour to get any award from Sridevi. It's a huge honor to stand next to her and I think this year honestly belongs to you and Boney ji (filmmaker and Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor). I don't know what to say but he's (Boneyji) been extremely important to me in the years I've been here and a huge support to me.''

She added, ''So to receive this award from Sridevi and from you (Boney ji) is seriously a great honor,''

Superstar Shahrukh Khan received the same award (Best International Icon Male).

King Khan with his trade mark wit imitated Katrina and said, ''Thank you so much... it's has been one of my most cherish dreams aur meri jindagi ka bahut bada din hai ki Boney Kapoor ji ne mujhe yeh award diya hai, aaj jo meri feeling hai main aapko bata nahi sakta aur Sri bhi aayi hain... thank you!'

Both Shahrukh and Katrina along with Anushka Sharma and Karisma Kapoor paid tribute to late filmmaker Yash Chopra by dancing to the evergreen music from his movies.

Shahrukh had a dreamlike entry on a harnessed white flying horse.

The ladies, Anushka, Katrina and Karisma, were draped in chiffons typical of a Yash Chopra heroine.

Is Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana already a style icon?

Suhana, Shah Rukh Khan's daughter, was spotted with her mother Gauri at the 19th Annual Colors Screen Awards. She was wearing what looked like a dress, mirroring her mother's style. She had done up her hair in ringlets and looked quite chic.
Though Suhana had little on no make up on, with the exception of perhaps a bit of lip gloss, the 12-year-old looked quite composed in front of the paparazzi in her off-shoulder, knee-length dress with floral print.
Shah Rukh often tweets about his children - son Aryan and daughter Suhana - and takes them to IPL matches. Suhana has been seen more often in sweat shirts and jeans. But it seems the junior Khan has already a fashion statement to make.

Shahrukh Khan starrer JAB TAK HAI JAAN resets UAE-GCC records!

Late Yash Chopra's JAB TAK HAI JAAN has more or less ended its Indian run netting around 118 crore. However, the film is still running successfully in the overseas circuit.

download JAB TAK HAI JAAN wallpapers

The Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer, JAB TAK HAI JAAN, has become the first Indian film to cross the $4 million mark in UAE and GCC, making it the highest grossing film ever.

The film has also emerged as the third highest grossing Indian film of all time in the overseas circuit. Just for records, it has grossed 75 crore in the overseas till date.

Given the fact that the worldwide theatrical and non-theatrical rights of JAB TAK HAI JAAN rests with Yash Raj Films' (as they have distributed it globally), the film has turned out to be a pot of gold for them, just as we had indicated in one of our articles.

India should take 'hard' stand: SRK

India should take 'hard' stand: SRK

Reacting to reports about the barbaric killing of two Indian soldiers by Pakistani troops at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, actor Shah Rukh Khan says he feels deeply sad, and India should take a 'hard' stand.

"Things like country, politics, sports, war, border should be kept different... (he recalled that his earlier remarks on sports had raised a controversy) In a country so volatile, where the youth demand a hard stand... which is a good thing in a democracy. I don't want to participate in anything of which we both don't have knowledge. I think you and I should be looking at methods to end this strife at the border," the thespian said.

"I have been watching TV, where people are saying "haan sabak sikha denge" (let's teach them a lesson). That is completely wrong. It is sad, soldiers should not die for unnecessary reasons. We should take a hard stand. We should be very clear and whoever does wrong, should have to account for it and be put to the test. As an Indian, I am deeply saddened," Khan said.

In a brazen violation of the decade-old ceasefire, Pakistani troops intruded into Jammu and Kashmir and killed two Indian soldiers Tuesday.

I'll work till people want me to: Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has successfully achieved what he dreamed of, says he will work till people want to see him on screen.

"I feel I was in the industry at the right time and I am very proud and thrilled that lot of things are changing with films," Shah Rukh Khan, 47, said during a press conference of Nerolac Paints, where he launched its new initiative Change The Paint.

"When I came in (Mumbai) that time it was only about romantic films. Now things are changing and the journey has been great. I will keep working till people want to see me," he added.

In a career spanning two decades, the actor has achieved whatever he dreamt of. He says an individual should keep dreaming, but at the same time shouldn't move away from reality.

"Everyday a new dream is born. It is nice to keep on dreaming. I dream to make different films, I want to see my kids healthy. But I feel you have to be rooted in reality before dreaming. Believe in reality at the first place and get your education first," he said.

"Right now I am in a position where I can afford to do anything but when I just started off that time my dream was to have a house, car and everything," he added.

Farah Khan wants Shah Rukh Khan as a birthday gift

Farah Khan turned a year older yesterday and had an interesting birthday wish. The choreographer-turned-director apparently wants Rohit Shetty to wrap up his upcoming film Chennai Express so that she can start hers.

Reason: Shah Rukh Khan is part of both the projects. And only after Rohit releases him can he start his shoot with Farah. SRK has a distinct look in Farah's film Happy New Year and will apparently require some time to slip into his character.

Farah says, "Shah Rukh needs a break of at least two to three weeks post which he will start my film."

Dempo doing rethink on Shah Rukh buying stake in I-league?

Dempo doing rethink on Shah Rukh buying stake in I-league?

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's proposed deal to buy stake in the Goa-based Dempo Sports Club is reportedly "dying out" as the superstar is finding it difficult to attend soccer matches as required by a clause.

Dempo Sports Club owner Srinivas Dempo told PTI that the deal may not materialise as Shah Rukh has no time to attend the matches, which was a crucial understanding in the deal. The club had approached Shahrukh, who is the co-owner of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, to pick up a stake in the club, the winner of last year's I-league championship.

"The proposal is still in the pipeline. Officially it has not been called off", Dempo said, adding the draft of the agreement had a clause that Shah Rukh will attend at least 8-10 matches annually. "But he (Shahrukh) has indicated that he is finding it difficult. We are yet to reply to him", Dempo said. He did not reveal the exact stake the actor was supposed to pick up in the Dempo Sports Club nicknamed 'The Whites'.

Dempo said the majority stake would have remained with the parent management even after inking the deal with Shahrukh. "It was not about the money; it was about the popularity of the club. At least for important matches we were expecting his presence", added Dempo.

Shahrukh Khan loves wife Gauri Khan’s creativity

Shahrukh Khan is all praises when it comes to wife Gauri Khan. The actor took to twitter to eulogize Gauri Khan for her creativity.

Shahrukh Khan, on Sunday, tweeted about his wife Gauri Khan and her close friend Sussanne Roshan, actor Hrithik Roshan’s wife. The two star wives are not only good friends but are also into interior designing.

SRK tweeted, “Saw stuff by Charcoal Project. What fantastic creativity in furniture by @sussannekroshan & my multifaceted wife Gauri. You girls make wood speak.”

This is not the first time Shahrukh has showered praises on his dear wife. He recently said he wants to learn how to be patient just like Gauri. The superstar had also mentioned that Gauri is far more grounded and clear headed. She is the one who has made their marriage stronger.

Charcoal Project is Sussanne Roshan’s initiative, and an interior design store by her. Gauri Khan and Sussanne work as designers for the Charcoal Project. In the year 2012, Gauri Khan launched her own line of furniture in partnership with Sussanne’s store. Gauri is good in her art, and that she loves interior designing is also evident from the way she has beautifully decorated the interiors of her residence, Mannat.

In an interview to Notch Magazine, after launching her interior design career, Gauri said that her husband Shahrukh Khan is her “inspiration”.
