Is all well in Shah Rukh Khan's life, or is he going through a personal or professional crisis like Farah Khan claims?

Art imitates life, they say. Not quite.

Take a scene in Ra.One wherein Shah Rukh Khan, accompanied by his son, gets mugged on the streets. Instead of tackling the diminutive thug, he lets him off easily and preaches Mahatma Gandhi's lessons on non-violence.

Few months later, Sanjay Dutt threw a bash to celebrate the accolades he received for his creepy, spiteful turn as Kancha Cheena in Karan Johar's super-hit Agneepath remake. This time, SRK was in no mood for Gandhigiri. Wine or woe, SRK reacted to director, better known as Farah Khan's husband, Shirish Kunder's provocative swipes with a fist and a punch.

It's, of course, not a very nice thing to do. But how many 'We condemn this act of violence' reactions did it spawn anyway? On the contrary, if the excitement it generated on Twitter is anything to go by, SRK's aggression certainly got some support from fans, fraternity and even haters.

For one, Kunder is not exactly the harmless underdog you would want to root for. (Read the man's tweets and you'll get the drift.) In the past too, he's evoked the ire of the fourth estate with his offensive remarks.

Also, he wrote, produced, edited, among a whole lot of others things, the utterly abominable Tees Maar Khan.

Secondly, and most importantly, the prospect of a good fight on a dull Monday appears to have gotten the better of everyone. Even dairy giant Amul wasted no time in coming out with its 'Kha.One' take on the brawl.

Too bad Farah's brother Sajid Khan and brother-like Sajid Nadiadwala intervened to patch things up between the squabbling SKs. In any case, what exactly did the choreographer-turned-filmmaker and once SRK's closest chum mean when she said, 'The person who is hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on.'

Shah Rukh mum over patch up

Though all's well between Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Shirish Kunder after an ugly spat, the superstar still refuses to speak about either the fight or the patch up.

"Did I tell you that there was a fight..no...so I will not tell anything about the patch up also," Shah Rukh told reporters at a pre-nuptial ceremony of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza. The actor reached the function in the wee hours of Wednesday.

However, he took to microblogging site Twitter to talk about his exciting day, revealing the best part was to meet friends at home.

"Long satisfying day...dancing at filmfare...shoot with prabhuda..dinner with riteish and genelia at 5am. Best was to meet friends at home again," he wrote on his Twitter page.

Shah Rukh was embroiled in a scuffle with Shirish, husband of choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan, at a party organised by Sanjay Dutt to celebrate the success of "Agneepath".

The truce was intiated by Farah's brother Sajid Khan and filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala. Shirish along with Farah, brother-in-law Sajid and producer Nadiadwala had arranged the meeting at Shah Rukh's house Mannat, where all of them sat together to sort out the issue.

After the patch up, Shirish had told IANS that their frienship has become stronger than ever.

"It was a mutual thing and was not about saying sorry to each other. Since I am younger I can't expect Shah Rukh to say sorry. We kept our egos aside and were gracious enough about it. Being the younger, I should have not reacted like this. Our relationship has become stronger like never before. Everything that was said has been cleared face to face now," he said.

What were Priyanka and SRK talking about at Agneepath success bash?

There's more from Bollywood's current biggest talking point the bash that turned into a battlefield for Shah Rukh Khan and Shirish Kunder. And it involves Priyanka Chopra.

Apparently at the party thrown to celebrate Sanjay Dutt's Agneepath success, SRK and Priyanka spent some time together alone. The two sat for a while in a corner table. As it was in the wee hours, a lot of guests had left the bash.

And those who were around let them have a quiet table to themselves. But in the wake of the buzz about Priyanka and SRK's close bonding, onlookers noticed the duo all by themselves. Later Priyanka left and after a while the SRK-Shirish fracas occurred.

Both the stars had arrived at the Juhu nightspot after attending an awards event. They arrived separately. But once at the venue, King Khan and Priyanka chatted animatedly for a while.

A source said, "They spoke at least for 15 minutes. As they had arrived only after 3.30 am, many guests had left. And those who were still around preferred to keep a distance from their table."

The source added, "It appeared that both were in deep conversation. Later they both got up, exchanged pleasantries with the rest and Priyanka left the venue while SRK remained."

Though there has been buzz that Priyanka was present when the SRK-Shirish incident occurred, the source maintains that the actress had stepped out by then.

"What transpired between the actress and Shah Rukh is not known but it appeared that they had lots to talk about," maintained the source.

Shah Rukh a brother? No way, says Vidya

Vidya Balan recently did a small act at the Screen Awards with Shah Rukh Khan where she addressed the superstar as 'brother'. However, she says calling SRK brother saddened her.

"I did not find that act interesting. I felt very sad that I called him my brother. The world can call Shah Rukh their brother, but I will never call him my brother," the 33-year-old said at the DVD launch here of her movie The Dirty Picture.

After taking away all the awards for her performance in The Dirty Picture, Vidya is currently busy promoting her next film Kahaani.

The BIG fight between SRK and Shirish Kunder!

To celebrate the success of Agneepath, Sanjay Dutt threw a big bash on Sunday night. But the big bash soon turned into a nightmare when Shahrukh Khan allegedly slapped Shirish Kunder, the husband of Farah Khan.

If eyewitnesses are to be believed, while Shirish was already enjoying the party, gulping down a couple of drinks, SRK walked in pretty late. Seeing Shahrukh, Kunder started following him everywhere, passing stupid comments at the actor.

Naturally SRK got irritated and apparently pushed Kunder on a sofa, first trying to talk to him. But when Shirish continued to retort back. That’s when Shahrukh lost his cool and slapped him.

Shirish Kunder is reported to have said: “Shahrukh punched and jumped on me. And he had three bodyguards with him. I don’t know what got him. I was numb with shock so I couldn’t react. He kept screaming at me, ‘What do you think of yourself? I’ll see to it that you’re out of this industry’.”

Shirish Kunder’s wife, Farah Khan, who was SRK’s once upon a time good friend, said in a statement,
“Shahrukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem, and that it means the person who’s hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on. So it saddens me to see him doing the same.”

Buzz had it hat, Shirish Kunder also filed a police complaint against Shahrukh Khan. However, denying the reports Shirish said,
“Thanks for all your concern & wishes. We are very grateful. Contrary to rumours, we have no intention of filing a FIR or police complaint,” Shirish Kunder wrote on his Twitter page.

Shahrukh Khan, however, chose not to comment on this episode.

Snow clad mountains back in Yash Chopra Films.

When its a Yash Chopra film, the Swiss Alps, snow and romance has to be there. After eight long years, Yash Chopra returns to the Bollywood industry, making a film with Shahrukh Khan and Katrina kaif. He is busy hunting for a perfect location and needless to mention, he definitely wants his snow clad mountains back.

Confirming the news, Chopra says, “It is being planned.”

Not just the snowy mountains, Kats and SRK will travel to many foreign locations for the shooting of the film, the next scheadule being London.

Chopra added, “Shah Rukh is such a lovely boy. It is always fun shooting with him. We have finished shooting a song here (in Mumbai). Now, we will be going to London next month. After we return, we will be shooting in India for a while. The team is still busy location hunting. Everything will be finalised by the time we come back.”

Shah Rukh Khan allegedly assaulted Farah Khan's husband and filmmaker Shirish Kunder at Sanjay Dutt's bash on Sunday.

According to reports, Shirish was drunk and followed Shah Rukh everywhere and even entered the loo with him. Irritated SRK then pinned him to a sofa and allegedly punched him.

Farah Khan confirmed the incident. "Shirish, my husband, was beaten up by Shah Rukh and his three bodyguards in Sanjay Dutt's party. Shah Rukh asked Shirish why he had tweeted against him... There was no provocation from our side. He had screamed at Shirish telling him that he would destroy me as well," the choreographer-director told Headlines Today.

Farah Khan also SMSed reporters: "Shahrukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way 2 sort out a problem, n that its means the person who's hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on, n it saddens me 2 see him doing the same (sic)."

When things got out of hand, Sanjay Dutt had to intervene to stop the brawl. But apparently he too slapped Kunder for sending lewd messages to his wife Maanyata and for misbehaving with a girl at the same party.

This isn't the first time Shirish has messed with King Khan. The Joker director had made nasty remarks about RA.One after its release. Kunder had tweeted: "I just heard a 150 Cr firework fizzle."

Rumours of a fallout between Farah and Shah Rukh Khan have been doing the rounds for a while now. But has this unfortunate incident put a nail in the coffin of this duo's friendship?

A leading daily reports, director Janaki Vishwanathan's Bollywood debut Bakra cried Shahrukh Khan. The director told that the child in the story loves his pet goat and is a fan of Shahrukh Khan as well. So the goat has been named after the actor.

In fact, the director also admits that the animal too is responsing to its new name. The story primarily revolves around the relationship between an eight-year-old boy and his love for his pet goat.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was reportedly involved in a brawl with director Farah Khan's husband Shirish Kunder at Sanjay Dutt's success party of Agneepath.

The bust up is said to have occurred late last night at the party when an irked SRK allegedly roughed up his former friend's husband, who has been very vocal against the film star.

Despite repeated attempts Shah Rukh remained unavailable for comment.

Farah and Kunder spoke about the incident in a statement but denied they were going to pursue the matter with police.

"Shahrukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem, and that it means the person who's hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on. So it saddens me to see him doing the same," Farah said in a statement.

Once very good friends, Farah choreographed SRK in several of his films and directed him in Main Hoon Naa and Om Shanti Om but their friendship soured after she cast Akshay Kumar in Tees Maar Khan in 2010.

The actor's enmity with Kunder apparently stems from the days when he refused to do latter's Joker.

Kunder, who also once used to be close to SRK, occasionally blasts the actor on his twitter page, recently calling his sci-fi Ra.One "a 150 cr firework fizzle".

The other celebrities present at the party, however, have come out in support of King Khan, saying Kunder had it coming.

According to reports, the two actors along with Anurag Kashyap have been nominated for this year's Ghanta and Golden Kela Awards, which are India's version of the Razzies.

While the two actors have been nominated in the worst actor category, Kashyap has been nominated in a category called "Holier-than-thou" film.

Shahrukh gets a double punch as his film Don 2 has been nominated in the "Worst Rip-Off" category for imitating "every Hollywood action film".

Only Anurag Kashyap has been sporting enough to tweet that he would collect his Ghanta award in person if his film, That Girl in Yellow Boots, wins.

Today's entertainment news: Shah Rukh Khan nominated for India's Razzies

Movie fans in India are handing out their own version of the Razzies, the annual Oscars spoof that spotlights Hollywood's worst performances.

The second Ghanta (bell) Awards and the fourth Golden Kela (golden banana) awards are doing the rounds of social media networks, with fans voting for the worst Bollywood films of 2011.

Big-ticket stars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are nominated in the worst actor categories at The Ghantas while the SRK caper Don 2 has been nominated in the "Worst Rip-Off" category for imitating "every Hollywood action film".

Organisers say no Bollywood star or filmmaker shows up to claim their prizes.

The Ghantas will be announced in February in Mumbai, while the Golden Kela ceremony will be held in New Delhi in March.

SRK in catch-22 situation over remake of Tamil films

Shah Rukh Khan is apparently in a dilemma, as he is unable to choose between the remake of two Tamil films -- Menon's Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and Murugadoss's Ramanna.

Rumour has it, that both the films are looking equally tempting to King Khan, as they would be providing him with the opportunity to essay the kind of characters which he hasn't portrayed as yet in his career.

"While Murugadoss's film casts SRK as a social crusader, Menon's film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair's One 2 Ka 4.

SRK has never got a chance to get into a khaki uniform. This, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu will let him do," a source said.

There are no permanent friends or enemies in Bollywood and Anurag Kashyap would know this.

The filmmaker who is known to have been quite brazen about his dislike for certain clans within the industry once, now seems to be warming up to the very same people.

Few weeks ago we saw him make amends with Arbaaz Khan at a party and now we hear that the filmmaker was seen spending some quality time with superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

A source said, "Last week at a party for one of the upcoming awards SRK, Anurag, Kalki and Karan Johar were seen hanging out together. In fact they left the venue together. Everyone was surprised because it was a whole new gang bonding with each other."

Interestingly not too long ago, stories about trouble brewing between Anurag and SRK were doing the rounds, because the filmmaker apparently thought the actor wasn't the right choice for his film Bombay Velvet.

However, a few days back at a press conference, Anurag said, "I would love to work with Shah Rukh and Hrithik. They are extremely talented."

The source added, "After the party, the whole gang was spotted at SRK's bungalow in Bandra. So it looks like there was some serious discussion going on."

Post Udaan, Karan Johar and Kashyap were also set to team up for Vikramaditya Motwane's next. Though that did not materialise, may be there's something bigger in store.

Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra were apparently so engrossed practising for the awards function in Macau that they did not realise that Shahid, Katrina and Ranbir were also waiting to practise their part on the stage.

Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra were practicing a small skit on stage as they had to perform at an awards function in Macau. However, the two were so engrossed in their practice session that they did not stop at one or two. They practised their skit for almost six times before the organisers of the show had to come and request Shahrukh Khan to leave the stage as Shahid Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor also had to practise their part on stage.

It is also being speculated that Priyanka Chopra completely ignored Shahid Kapoor who was also there at the venue.

On his part, Shahid Kapoor allowed Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif to practice on one side as he practised his dance movements at one corner. Ranbir was apparently very nervous and Shahid wanted to make him feel comfortable.

An awards ceremony is as much about honouring talent as it is about the glamorous red carpet. Actresses with designer gowns and jewels make their grand entry here. But the red carpet unrolled at Macau for the Zee Cine Awards had a different twist.

Instead of women in haute couture, it was the lads in suits — Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar — who stole the show. Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra decided to skip the red carpet since they were busy practising for their live acts. But like always, when King Khan takes charge, he steals the limelight.

"I am more nervous about the awards presentation hosting rather than worry who will win. I will try not to poke too much fun," said Khan, who was munching on a piece of chocolate.

Ask him about it and he quips: "I am trying to put on weight for my next film."

SRK’s TV shows to make comeback

Actor-producer Shah Rukh Khan’s TV production unit, Red Chillies Idiot Box, is rejoicing these days. Two of its most recent shows, Live My Life and Up, Close And Personal With PZ, produced for the newly launched Bollywood channel UTV Stars, are poised for a comeback this year.

Zinta’s chat show, which featured 10 of her favourite male colleagues, including Shah Rukh, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, wrapped up after completing 11 episodes in a span of three months, starting towards the end of August last year. Live My Life, which allows a fan to follow their favourite star’s life for a day, was not only one of the first big shows on the channel, but also one of the longest running series.

The reality show flagged off with Imran Khan, followed by the likes of Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh and Sonakshi Sinha, and was expected to last only 12-15 episodes, airing once a week. But it ended with an episode featuring Kangana Ranaut after completing more than 25 episodes in a span of six months. According to Nikhil Gandhi, business head of UTV Stars, the channel received good feedback, especially from the youth.

“They really want Live My Life to come back because it gave them a chance to get really close to their favourite hero or heroine. Besides, even the actors have reacted well to it, otherwise we couldn’t have extended it the way we did,” Gandhi says, adding, “Talks with all parties involved have already been initiated and we should soon be back with another season.”

When prodded about Preity’s chat show, he says that the channel is considering it at the moment: “She has her film assignments. She’s busy, but she really enjoyed the show. So, we’ll make every effort to bring it back.”

Kamal Haasan wants SRK for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu remake

If Kamal Haasan had his way, superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be the only actor to step into his shoes for the Hindi remake of Gautham Menon's Tamil film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu.

Shah Rukh is currently in a dilemma as he has to choose between the remakes of two Tamil films - Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and A.R. Murugadoss's Ramanna.

Both offer the picky King Khan a chance to do something he hasn't done before -- a south Indian remake with parts that he hasn't tried before.

"While Murugadoss's film casts SRK as a social crusader, Menon's film casts him as a cop, a role he has played just once in Shashilal Nair's One 2 Ka 4 and that too a plain-clothed cop. SRK has never got a chance to get into khaki uniform. This, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu will let him do," said a source.

Haasan, who played the role of the cop on the lookout for a serial killer in the original movie Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, has expressed keen interest in Shah Rukh reprising the role in the film's Hindi version.

"Kamalji is extremely fond of Shah Rukh. They go back a long way to the time when 12 years ago Shah Rukh agreed to do Kamalji's Hey Ram free of cost. When director Gautham Menon, who understandably respects Kamalji's opinion, asked the thespian who should play his role in the Hindi remake, Kamalji promptly gave Shah Rukh's name," said a source close to the project.

Menon confirmed his eagerness to cast Shah Rukh and said: "I don't know where these reports of Salman Khan being an option for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu are coming from. It's Shah Rukh Khan, who is the first and only choice. Kamalji played the part in the Tamil original. So Shah Rukh seems the right candidate for the part."

There is another reason why Salman was eliminated early from the race to play the cop in Menon's film.

Salman has already done the khaki bit several times over.

"Shah Rukh in khaki is a novelty. Salman has been there and done it many times. Shah Rukh is our man for the part," said the source.

Apparently, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu will explore the same dark noire cop-killer space as Aamir Khan's Talaash.

A source close to the project says that the only reason Shah Rukh has not given a final nod to Menon's remake is because he wants to see how Talaash is received by the audiences.

Eros Int'l counting on 3D wave to boost profit

Movie producer and distributor Eros International Media Ltd (EROS.NS) expects earnings to rise 30 percent both this fiscal year and next as Indian film-goers clamour for more 3D and other digitally enhanced offerings, its chief financial officer said.

Eros, a unit of Eros International Plc (EROS.L), is counting on a large line-up of big-budget productions and improving ticket sales after a dearth of movie releases in India hurt sales and earnings in the second quarter, Kamal Jain said on Thursday.

Second-quarter net profit fell 40 percent to 273.5 million rupees, reflecting one-off gains a year earlier. Sales fell 6 percent to 1.75 billion rupees.

Eros, which recently produced the Shah Rukh Khan sci-fi film "Ra.One" in 3D, has three more 3D movies in the pipeline and at least five big-budget films set for release in coming months.

At least four 3D movies are scheduled for release in India this year, up from three last year. These include Eros's "Kochadaiyan", featuring superstar Rajnikanth, who has achieved cult status in the south.

"The new wave of 3D movies is driving growth in this industry as it increases footfalls (ticket buyers) by 30-40 percent," Jain said. "3D brings in people to the theatres as most of the people cannot watch it at home."

Eros also expects to boost revenue through content-sharing deals with new media platforms such as video websites as demand for content increases, he said.

"We have already digitised our entire library ... We are planning to announce a deal in this space very soon, sometime in this quarter, which will be a big boost to our revenues," Jain said, without providing details.

The company, which has released about 75 movies every 12-18 months in recent years, said last month it planned to release at least 50 films over the next year-and-a-half.

Eros plans capital expenditure of about 12 billion rupees over the next two years, up about 1 percent from the previous two years and largely funded internally, Jain said.

Net debt as of September 30 was 500 million rupees.

The company, which listed its shares in 2010, reported a net profit of 1.17 billion rupees on sales of 7.07 billion rupees in the year to March 2011.

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION DEALS

Eros recently tied up with Dharma Productions to distribute the latter's action film "Agneepath", starring Hrithik Roshan, to theatres outside India, and Jain said the company expects to sign more such deals in the coming months.

These deals can be lucrative because overseas ticket prices are often double those in India, where an average movie ticket costs about $5.

Jain declined comment on media reports that parent Eros Plc plans to buy out all the shares it does not already own in UK Hindi entertainment channel B4U Television. Eros owns a 24 percent stake in B4U.

Eros, which has a presence in India's Tamil, Punjabi and Marathi language markets, plans to increase regional market earnings from the current 10 to 15 percent, Jain said, declining to elaborate.

Eros traditionally invests about 15 percent of its capital expenditure in regional films and the rest on Hindi language films, Jain said.

Shares of the company, which has a market value of about $365 million, rose about 29 percent in 2011. The stock closed 2.6 percent down at 211.3 rupees on Thursday.

The many 'Shah Rukhis' of Vienna head for Berlin

For 51-year-old Maria Stella Hinterndorfer, the wait has only just begun. Called "Shah Rukhi number one", she is one of the most ardent fans of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

She booked her flight and hotel in Berlin soon after she heard that Shah Rukh will be back in the city Feb 11 for a screening of his latest film Don 2: The King Is Back at the Berlinale that opens Feb 9. And she is not the only one.

Eighteen-year-old Selma from Morocco has been allowed a trip to Berlin by her father only because Stella has promised to chaperone her.

"Seven years ago when I decided to fulfil my dream of meeting Shah Rukh in person, I was a non-English speaking, very shy and private person. It was other fans who helped me and gave me the confidence and generous tips on how to be photographed with him, to get autographs and hugs from Shah Rukh," recalled Stella to an IANS correspondent.

Gabi Pirkfellner, a potter at Vienna's 300-year-old Augarten porcelain, said she will fly to Berlin Feb 10. She will spend all of the following day waiting for a glimpse of Shah Rukh and in trying to get two tickets for the screening of Don 2 for herself, and for Eva Richter, another fan. She will be back at work in Vienna Feb 13.

The hit-and-run visit of these Shah Rukh fans in Vienna to Berlin will cost the girls around 400 euros (over Rs.25,000) each. However, different fans give different reasons for splurging.

Stella is jobless at present, but it's important for her to see Shah Rukh if only to find out how much of a fan she still is.

Hundreds of Europeans like Stella are counted among the first fans of Shah Rukh after a private German entertainment channel first beamed Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham dubbed in the German language in December 2004.

This was the first time a series of Bollywood films were shown regularly on a television channel at prime time.

"I found the story of the film very strange. I did not like the role of the mother in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. But the only reason I did not turn away from the film was Shah Rukh. I could not take my eyes off him," professor Elke Mader responsible for introducing Bollywood studies at the Social and Cultural Anthropology Department of the University of Vienna, told IANS.

Subsequently the professor spent all her free time watching Shah Rukh films, often till the wee hours of a morning. She has spent years reaching out to other Shah Rukh fans in person and online and has travelled all over Europe to meet the superstar in flesh and blood.

However, this year she will not travel to Berlin to see Shah Rukh.

"I tell myself my mother needs me. I tell myself I don't want to wait outside his hotel and outside the cinema hall in snowfall any more. But two years ago none of these excuses would have worked. I would have gone to see Shah Rukh no matter what," Elke says.

If new fans are making it to the list, the older ones have mellowed and no longer shy away from criticising some of the super star's latest work.

Some first fans of Shah Rukh are even suffering from the proverbial seven-year itch that may have crept into their relationship with the Bollywood superstar.

Stella is nostalgic about films like Baazigar and Karan Arjun. She had fallen in love with the fire that she found in the performance of his early films. She saw RA.One when it opened in a cineplex in Vienna last year and was not thrilled.

"The more money that Shah Rukh spends on a film and the harder he tries to be funny, the more mediocre he comes across on screen these days. I miss sincerity and the fire in his performances," sighs Stella.

However, there are still hundreds of other Europeans who look forward to collectively cheering Shah Rukh at the Berlinale this year as well.

It is the secret hope of Stella that Selma's newfound craze for Shah Rukh will infuse fresh life into her own withering love for the Bollywood superstar.

Shah Rukh Khan fans in Germany are in for a treat. The actor's latest release "Don 2: The King Is Back" will be screened at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival, to be held Feb 9-19, and he will attend the event also.

Also, the movie, produced by Excel Entertainment, will have its mainstream theatrical release with a dubbed version in German.

Shah Rukh, along with his co-star Priyanka Chopra, director Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani, will attend the screening, scheduled at the Friedrichstadt-Palast theatre Feb 11 at 9.30 p.m.

"It is an honour and a privilege for us to have our movie screened on an international platform. It had been our resolution to deliver good cinema, and we are delighted that our work is appreciated by cinema lovers worldwide," Sidhwani said in a press statement.

The team is also expected to hold a press conference, which can only be accessed by journalists accredited by the Berlinale.

Besides the German release Feb 16, the film will also hit theatres in Russia, Turkey, Israel, France, China and Korea.

Shah Rukh Khan has bagged two awards at the Screen awards recently and the superstar is happy not only for himself but also for his kids who he says are also his competitors.

"It feels nice to win awards. There is a sense of competition with my kids because they win prizes for racing, taekwondo, riding etc. So I'll go home and show my kids that even I have won two awards," the 46-year-old actor said here at the awards function.

He bagged popular choice best actor for Don 2: The KIng Is Back and best jodi award for his pairing with Priyanka Chopra. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh had two releases this year and both the films- Ra. One and Don 2- crossed the Rs.100 crore- mark at the box office.

He says he does not work for money and added: "I understand the rupees and crores less and you understand it even lesser. Please don't ask me questions on crores and stuff like that. I have been working hard for 20 years and only work to make the public happy. "Hopefully, this year too I'll work with the same motive and not count numbers. Telephones have numbers and not actors, producers."

SRK is currently working in Yash Chopra's next untitled film with Katrina Kaif. He is also co-producing Student Of the Year with Karan Johar.

"She is a wonderful actor. I haven't seen 'The Dirty Picture' but I will see it tomorrow. I have seen 'Ishqiya' on DVD and I just loved her performance. I have also seen 'Paa'," Shah Rukh told reporters.

"Apart from being a marvelous actress, I think all these girls are such huge stars. I believe girls are very hard working compared to boys. I hope I get a chance to work with her," he added.

Vidya too seemed to be thrilled at the prospect.

"Why not, I would love to work with him," she replied when asked about working with Shah Rukh.

Shah Rukh Khan is presently working on his next untitled film with Yash Raj Films, where he will share screen space with Katrina Kaif.

Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor will host the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011 to be held on the 29th of January at Filmcity.

SRK and Ranbir will keep us entertained as they have done on many a previous occasion. We still have fond memories of co-hosts Shahrukh and Saif Ali Khan amusing us with their antics and co-hosts Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor poking fun at the Bollywood fraternity.

Both Ranbir Kapoor (Rockstar) and Shahrukh Khan (Don 2) have been nominated for the best actor Filmfare award. Rockstar and Don 2 are also in competition for the best film award for 2011.

This year is a bit different for Salman Khan at the award shows. Though he has been nominated in the best actor category, Bodyguard has not been nominated in the best film category. Check out the full list of the

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has won scores of awards and honours and is in the race for the best actor Filmfare trophy this year for Don 2: The King Is Back. Yet, he feels awards are important.

"Awards are very important. Insha Allah, whichever film gets the award I will be very happy," Shah Rukh told reporters here at the Filmfare Awards nomination party Friday night. He has been nominated for the award along with Ajay Devgn (Singham), Amitabh Bachchan (Aarakshan), Hrithik Roshan (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara), Ranbir Kapoor (Rockstar) and Salman Khan (Bodyguard).

Last year, Shah Rukh bagged the best actor award for his work in 2010 film My Name Is Khan.

Bollywood stars gathered at the nomination party of the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011, to be held Jan 29 at Film City, Goregaon, here.

The stars present at the event included Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Asin Thottumkal, Anurag Kashyap, Juhi Chawla, Tusshar Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali.

Ranbir is confident about his performance in Rockstar.

"It feels good I got an opportunity to work with Imtiaz Ali. We have made Rockstar from the heart," he said.

Actor-filmmaker Shah Rukh Khan has admitted to an international newspaper that he is trying to make a film on Mahabharata which sources say will be mounted on a grander scale than his last Diwali release 'Ra.One'. Sources say that this time the production and the publicity cost could well be over Rs 200 crores.

"Shah Rukh is already excited about the Mahabharata project and he thinks that it might be far bigger and better in its scale than 'Ra.One'. He is also in talks with a foreign production house to market it properly into territories where Bollywood has never been. It will be a truly world commercial release," says a source.

Sources also say that Shah Rukh wants the special effects of this film to be more advanced than James Cameron's 'Avatar'. "He is pretty excited about it and the table-work for the movie is already on. On the other hand, we are already exploring options of a tie-up for the production. Shah Rukh is of the opinion that the marketing of the film can be thought about later on. Right now, all we need is a great product (read film)," the source.

SRK, in his interview with a London-based foreign newspaper, has already announced his intention of making a film on the epic.

"His ultimate goal, he says, is to make the mother of all Indian movies, an 'Avatar'-style spectacular based on the Mahabharata, which he claims could be Bollywood's first truly global blockbuster. That would cost much more, he says, probably only slightly less than the $450 million (approximately Rs 2,250 crore) spent on 'Avatar'," says The Times.

"I think it would be fantastic, the world's greatest film. It would be Mahabharata made like 'Lord of the Rings' -- a trilogy. The world would come to see it. The inherent story is one of the most interesting in the world. There are amazing superheroes, 20 times better than 'X-men' -- gods of the sun and wind who can make fire and gales at will. There are monsters, ghosts. It's really awesome," he was quoted to have said.

According to the report, Shah Rukh has already held talks with Hollywood studios in India like 20th Century Fox and Warner Brothers.

In the past few months, Bollywood star, Shahrukh Khan was so busy that he was not able to make time to even get a glimpse of Ash-Abhi’s little bundle of joy, Beti B.

Better late than never, SRK finally found time to visit the Bachchan parivaar.

Confirming the news, Big B wrote on his blog,

“Shah Rukh drops by to meet the ‘little one’, a few others too from the fraternity visit the still in wonder bundle… and we spend all our time in trying to spend as much time as possible with her!! Simple pleasures of life..!!” Amitabh Bachchan wrote.

Apparently, things have changed over the past few days it seems as Arjun, Hrithik recently ignored Shah Rukh Khan at a party hosted by photographer Dabboo Ratnani to launch his new calendar.

While stars kept pouring in at the party, as soon as Shah Rukh Khan arrived, his ‘close’ friends Arjun Rampal and Hrithik Roshan hurriedly left the venue.

Talking to a daily, an eyewitness said, “When Shah Rukh entered Olive (where the party was being held), we saw Arjun leave just then. They did not greet each other. Hrithik did the same. He was getting some pictures shot outside the gallery area and left the minute SRK came.”

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who says marketing has become an indispensable part of filmmaking because of the rising ticket prices, used the best marketing strategy to promote his RA.One, but feels he could have made the sci-fi superhero movie in a better way.

"I think it's very,very important in entertainment to get into merchandising, to get into gaming and be on the net... we cannot negate that any more, whatever the level of film you are making," Shah Rukh, who was honoured at the NDTV Profit Business Leadership Awards 2011 with the title of Creative Entrepreneur of The Year in Mumbai, said in a tete-a-tete with the channel.

SRK, known for coining some of the best marketing strategies to sell his films, associated with over 50 brands for his mega-production RA.One. However, he received mixed reaction for the movie, which was directed by Anubhav Sinha.

"It's very important because a film like RA.One lends itself a little more, it's for children, it's superhero and stuff. I wish I had made it a little better because people started jumping on my back, 'Itna market kiya aur aisa picture banaya tumne (You marketed it so much, and made a film like this)', So, I got a little waylaid on that," he added.

The movie, a sci-fi project, had a production cost of Rs 150 crore, and according to reports, his tie-ups to market the film were worth Rs 52 crore. Shah Rukh, a graduate in Economics, feels it's important to look at films as a product nowadays.

"I think you really need to take films and think of it as a product and put it across, and inform everyone what this product is because it is very expensive to go and buy the ticket.

"You know it's Rs 500-Rs.700, so you need to tell the customer this is what it is going to be. The more the channels you can inform on, I think more you are right about your product," said Shah Rukh, who had begun promoting RA.One months before its release.

With RA.One, King Khan also brought into spotlight the importance of technology in taking Indian cinema global.

To be really honest, even to the other producers and myself, I tell them put it (money) into the film, because I truly believe the technology and you know the way Indian films look... it's very important to go to the next level in terms of technology, otherwise we will lose.

"...the danger is not that we are going to crossover or not, the danger is whether we are going to lose the Indian audience for the Indian films. We are the only country in the world which still has regional audiences, so to say. Otherwise Hollywood has taken over everywhere, and the only way we can make sure that we continue to have youngsters like our films is increasing our technology.

"Otherwise 10 years from now there will be no Hindi films and I say that with utmost sadness. I really feel that if we don't push it a little more in terms of marketing and technology, we will not have Hindi films," added the 46-year-old.

The event, which took place in Mumbai Saturday, will go on air January 14 on NDTV Profit.

Sreenivasan Jain: I actually know a lot of things, which I don't think a lot of people know that you are a first rate Economic Honours student from Delhi University's Hansraj College. I used to live just across the road. Is that where you picked up your marketing skills?

Shah Rukh Khan: I started off being a science student, not exactly first rate but I did very well. I went on to Economics and did do very well. Then I did Mass Communications, aur ab dekhiye mera kya ho gaya, hindi film hero ban gaya. Main sab chod chad ke, no I actually believe, but first of all I just wanted to say that I am extremely extremely humbled by the presence of all these wonderful people who have made our country what it is, and I have taken all the cues from all the business aspects, so whatever little I can draw on experiences. I read and you know I kind of understand what Airtel is doing, what Bajaj is doing, what Reliance is doing, what Jet Airways, all wonderful companies here, and I try to bring it into films in my own small way. Believe you it costs a lot and it's very expensive, and our product is not something that lasts long and goes on and on. Not like the Bajaj ka scooter jo zindagi bhar chalta rahega. It's a bit of an issue trying to amalgamate the two, but I think the time has come where the accessibility to this kind of marketing for films is opening up, mainly because of all the business houses who are here. You know you can call up Rajan and say 'Rajan I want to do something with my film with telephony and stuff' and he will most certainly be good enough to allow you to. So I think the platforms have increased and that's how I tried to market my newer films.

Sreenivasan Jain: Shah Rukh you're being as modest as always. You said in your own small way, I was going through the things you did for Ra One. You had 25 toys; you did ads for each of those toys; you launched 50 products; you had a Ra One video game; you had your own special youtube page; I mean I could go on.

Sreenivasan Jain: Any offers from anyone on the floor?

Shah Rukh Khan: Ya please take me as one of the employees for marketing in your companies. But I don't take money for my films. I think for the Finance Minister and me, what makes you our favourite is Kolkata Knight Riders, well done, well done.

Shah Rukh Khan: And I know you are not biased at all.

Prannoy Roy: But I want to know, do you do business, not acting, from your head or your heart?

Shah Rukh Khan: Completely from my heart, though in the last five days I have had so many losses in my company, that I have decided now that I am going do it from my head. Yes, just yesterday I hired and fired people; I am using words like restructuring and 360 degrees management and power lunches, I really did. Yesterday I sat down; I had all that and also tied it up with the socio-economic development of the country and where it is headed. Just because Pranab da is here so I should mention that, but now I am using the head but the heart is bleeding too much. I need to do some number crunching, I need to see some targets and the targets meet what I am doing. But cricket was from the heart. But it is making money and that's the only project of mine that is making money, and we are not winning, so I need to win and make money.

Sreenivasan Jain: Shah Rukh any tip for corporate India

Shah Rukh Khan: No nothing. Just keep giving us all the advertising platforms, then we will tell you that it's great to be tied up with films, specially Shah Rukh Khan films. And I am here and I will, I always say this, whatever category of endorsements is left, please do call upon me. I live next door and I am giving a discount because it's New Year and Valentines coming up. But genuinely, with all honesty, I know lots of people here; lots of them are my friends. I get this opportunity to sit with them in a very informal way about business and work, but genuinely, with all the issues we are having or coming or will come, I think all of you here are most wonderful, who made our country immensely proud. I get to learn so much. There is so much intelligence in this one gathering here. Thank you very much for thinking so far ahead for the country.

Prannoy Roy: Aren't they some of them good looking also? Would you offer a role to any of these Industrialists in your next film?

Shah Rukh Khan: See I have been humble enough, don't push it. See I talked about their business acumen, I said they made the country proud. Now the buck stops here, as you would say on your show. Man, I mean you can have the money, the corporate acumen or the looks. So here is the heart, there is the head, here are the looks, there is the money. But honestly, some of you are extremely beautiful and handsome people.

Sreenivasan Jain: They are all looking a little disappointed with your answer.

Shah Rukh Khan: No absolutely, I am just joking. Your suits are well cut, your hair nicely combed, you look very manicured, pedicured and very handsome, absolutely.

Shahrukh Khan clears doubt with Katrina Kaif about Salman Khan

Before agreeing to work with Katrina Kaif in Yash Chopra's untitled film, Shahrukh Khan apparently spoke to Katrina to find out if she was comfortable working with him since he was not in good terms with her ex-boyfriend, Salman Khan.

Being a thorough gentleman, Shahrukh Khan spoke to Katrina Kaif in length to find out what she felt to act with him since he and her ex-boyfriend, Salman Khan were rivals.

In the past, there was a big showdown on the sets of Chalte Chalte when Salman Khan barged on the sets where Sharukh Khan was shooting with Salman's ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai. The shooting had to be stopped, after which Shahrukh requested Aishwarya to be replaced by Rani Mukherjee.

In order to avoid any such scene, Shahrukh spoke to Katrina and cleared the air. A source revealed to a leading tabloid that Katrina Kaif has made it clear to SRK that Salman is nothing more than a good friend today. The source also informed that if Salman tries to repeat his past actions, he will loose her good will.

SRK to romance Katrina; film shoot begins on Monday

Yash Chopra's next project will be hitting the floors on Monday. The untitled flick will star Bollywood’s superstar Shahrukh Khan and beautiful Katrina Kaif.

"Launching my dad's film today with a little pooja at YRF...shoot starts tomorrow with @iamsrk and Katrina Kaif..Dad directing after 'Veer-Zaara'," actor Uday Chopra wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

This is for the first time that Shahrukh will romance Katrina on the big screen in the yet to be titled film, which also features Anushka Sharma.

Yash Chopra returns to direction after seven years - his last directorial venture was cross-border love story "Veer Zaara" in 2004.

The music of the new film will be composed by AR Rahman and Gulzar will pen the lyrics.

Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have been named the most profitable actors of the Hindi film industry in India and abroad respectively by ETC Bollywood Business Awards.

Actress Kareena Kapoor, who featured in Bodyguard and RA.One in 2011 opposite the two actors, has been titled the most profitable actor in the female category.

"Receiving an award wherein you are being adjudged considering the economic quotient as a cornerstone for mapping the success gives you a sense of pride. I've always maintained that commercial success is as important as the critical success of a movie. A commercially successful movie pays evidence to the fact that viewers loved watching your movie," Kareena said in a press statement.

Salman's Bodyguard, the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film by the same name, was titled the top grosser of the year. The film's director Siddique, walked away with the most profitable director's trophy.

SRK's mega-budget dream project RA.One was recognised as the best marketed film of the year and also bagged an award under the highest single day collection category.

"Now I can safely say 'har mulk ki public mujhe dhoondti hai'. RA.One, Bollywood's most expensive movie, was my dream project. It feels great that my long cherished dream has been applauded and acknowledged," said Shah Rukh.

"Allah has been very kind to me and helped me to entertain my audiences and it is quite literally my audiences' love that has fetched me these awards. Inshallah! I'll continue to entertain my audiences and make it to this award in years to come," he added.

Other films like Pyaar Ka Panchnaama, The Dirty Picture, Don 2:The King Is Back and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol bagged awards for being the most successful small budget Film, ETC Box Office surprise of the year, most popular first look of a film and most successful foreign film respectively.

Shah Rukh's 'Don 2' fetches good money from US

Released in more than 160 theaters in the United States and Canada, Shah Rukh Khan's latest film 'Don 2' is doing a roaring business in North America.

Taking the benefit of the Christmas and year-end holidays wherein Indian American film lovers thronged movie theaters in large numbers, Don 2 during the first 11 days of its release grossed USD 3.3 million.

'Don 2' surpassed USD 3.1 million of previous record-holder 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' starring Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar, as well as the usd 2.5 million of Khan's own 'Ra.One' which was released during Diwali.

The Farhan Akhtar-directed action thriller 'Don 2' has already grossed more than Salman Khan's 2011 hits 'Bodyguard' and 'Ready' combined.

The movie also set a new record for the all-time biggest opening week for a Hindi film in North America collecting a stellar USD 2.64 million beating the USD 2.55 million that Shah Rukh's 'My Name is Khan' earned in its first seven days in February 2010.

Co-starring Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani, 'Don 2' continues to play to large crowds in over 160 theaters across the US and Canada.

Its a collection of $3.3 million in the United States for Shahrukh Khan’s Don 2. The film is now the highest grossing Bollywood movie in North America, beating Hrithik’s ZNMD, which was at $3 Million mark.

We are also aware that Don2 is the first film to have the biggest opening week in North America, collecting $2.64 million.

In the UK, Don 2 is the 5th highest grossing flick to cross the £1 million mark in the opening weekend.

In India, Don2 closes at Rs 100 crore.

Well, the most interesting part is that director Farhan Akhtar walks away with loads of praises for two biggies at the international box office for 2011, with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara being one and Don2 being the second.

Juhi Chawla recently said in an interview that though she along with her husband Jai Mehta and Shahrukh Khan had started the production company Dreamz Unlimited, it didn't work out as Shahrukh had other plans. She also said that though she would like to act with Shahrukh, he is working with younger heroines.

In a recent interview with Times of India, Juhi Chawla spoke about the ambitious project that she along with her husband Jai Mehta and Shahrukh Khan had started. Juhi said that Shahrukh had other plans in his mind and hence launched his own production company.

When asked if she would like to be cast opposite Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla said that she doesn't meet Shahrukh and Aamir very often. The actress also added that she is older now and SRK and Aamir are working with younger heroines.

It should be mentioned here that Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla were once very good friends. Juhi was earlier upset that Shahrukh never came to visit her brother and his business partner Bobby Chawla even after being hospitalised for months.

Though Juhi Chawla did not at any point in the interview say that she was offended or upset with Shahrukh, it does seem like Juhi is extremely hurt by Shahrukh Khan's indifference.

Shahrukh Khan's Don 2 has stunned all with the miraculous and shocking response that it received in North America. The movie has grossed a stunning $3.3 million through January 2 surpassing $2.5 million of SRK’s Ra.One and also grossed more than Salman Khan’s 2011 hits Bodyguard and Ready – combined.

The movie has also set a new standard record for the all-time biggest opening week for a Bollywood movie in North America collecting $2.64 million beating the $2.55 million that Shah Rukh’s My Name is Khan earned in its first seven days in February 2010.

Ra.One becomes Best Bollywood Movie of 2011

Actor Shahrukh Khan's much-hyped movie Ra.One, which has smashed all the records at the Box Office, has been voted as the Best Bollywood Movie of the year 2011. The superhero film has topped the Oneindia poll survey by beating the movies like Bodyguard and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Hindi Film Industry has produced more than 130 films in the year 2011 and at least 20% of them have proved to be hit at the Box Office. Oneindia.in, one of biggest portals in India, conducted a month long survey. The website had nominated movies like Ra.One, Bodyguard, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, The Dirty Picture and Singham. Ra.One has become the Best Bollywood Movie of the year 2011 by grabbing 44.6% votes.

However, Salman Khan's hit movie Bodyguard, which is in the second spot in the collection chart of the year 2011, has landed in the second spot with 24.9% votes. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, The Dirty Picture and Singham have graced third, fourth and fifth position respectively.

Shah Rukh Khan Agrees To Star In South Remake?

The South remake bug seems to have bitten all the three Khans of Bollywood now. After Aamir Khan and Salman Khan went the 'South' route with Ghajini and Wanted respectively, it now seems that the Badshaah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan also wants to follow suit.

Sources claim that director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali has acquired rights of the 2002 hit Tamil flick Ramanaa and Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly agreed to be a part of the project. It seems that after Rowdy Rathore, Bhansali wasn't too keen on remaking another South flick, but after he saw Ramanaa at the insistence of a friend, he was absolutely impressed with the subject, which has a very strong anti-corruption message and decided to acquire the rights. Moreover, Ghajini director A. R. Murugadoss has confirmed that he will be directing the Hindi remake.

Incidentally, the Tamil film Ramanaa starring Vijaykanth was later remade in Telugu with Chiranjeevi in the lead.

Don 2 collects Rs 75.51 crs at Box Office in first week

Director Farhan Akthar’s latest movie Don 2 had a great opening week at the domestic Box Office. Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra starrer has earned Rs 75.51 crore net at the Indian collection centres in the first week. But the action thriller film has failed to break the record of Bodyguard, which had grossed Rs 109.47 crore net in the extended nine days week.

Don 2, which was released in 3,105 theatres across the country, debuted with Rs 15.55 crore net on Friday and its first weekend collection was Rs 49.09 crore net. The business of the movie dropped by 50% with its collection reaching Rs 8.85 crore net on Monday. Its business continued to drop on Tuesday (Rs 7.08 crore net), Wednesday (Rs 5.49 crore net), Thursday (Rs 5 crore net).

However, Don 2 has done exceptionally well at multiplexes, but it has received below the mark response in single screens and B and C centres. The movie has beaten recent release The Dirty Picture, which had collected Rs 32.25 crore net. But its collection is not up to the mark.

Don 2 : SRK remains the King at overseas, dons highest first day non festive at home

Certainly, the King is back but only in overseas.SRK much awaited sequel Don 2 has caught the eye of the overseas audience.The slickly made thriller has gained majors in SRK's stronghold - the overseas market where the franchise has surpassed his previous MNIK collections.

Shah Rukh Khan's Don 2 broke the record for the highest single day gross ever for a Hindi film in Australia when it collected US$ 82,000 on Friday. The earlier record was held by the Salman Khan starrer, Bodyguard (US$ 74,000). Don 2 has grossed US $ 1,36,000 in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

The cumulative gross of Don 2 from the International markets was US$ 3.8 million till Friday. The film opened in 41 countries on the December 23. The rights of the film are to be exploited in a total of 125 countries including a planned phase 2 distribution in 84 countries commencing January 2012.

Don 2 made US$ 5,50,000 gross from 164 locations in North America on Friday (December 23). The film, which opened on Friday, beat My Name Is Khan's opening day gross of $ 4,45,000. This opening day gross is also higher than the sum of the first three day's collections of Ra.One.

In UK, where the film opened on Wednesday (December 21), the total gross collections till Friday were US$ 5,27,000 from 76 locations, with collections from the 3D version accounting for two-thirds of the collections.

In the Middle East, Don 2 grossed US$ 9,30,000 on Thursday & Friday. These collections are higher than the first two day's collections of Ra.One (US$ 7,10,000) and than those of My Name Is Khan (US$ 7,50,000).

On the home front Don 2 has collected Rs. 48.55 crore (all-India net collection) over its first weekend at the box-office. This figure is inclusive of the collections of the original Hindi, dubbed Telugu and dubbed Tamil versions of the film.

“Don 2 – The King is Back”, Shahrukh Khan’s latest flick which released on last Friday, has opened to a very good response at box office. On the opening day itself, the film earned a collection of Rs.15.3 crore, making it the highest first day collection, keeping in mind Friday being a working day.

Don 2 is a sequel to Farhan Akhtar’s 2006 “Don” and it is a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan starrer of the same name.

The film released at 3105 screens including 550 3D screens.

At the overseas markets, the film earned an approx of US$82,000 on Friday making it the highest single day gross for a Hindi film in Australia. Don 2 has broken the records of Salman’s “Bodyguard” which earned around US$74,000 on its first day.

In North America, Don 2 saw a total collection of $550,000, again beating the collection of “My Name is Khan” which earned a gross of $445,000 on its opening day.

While promoting this year’s Christmas attraction, Don 2, that opened last Friday, Shah Rukh Khan had joked that in the next Don movie he would be in a wheelchair and leave it to his ‘Jungli billi’ Priynka Chopra, aka tough cop Roma, to play Don. “It was just a joke and I didn’t mean Don 3, I’m not that old,” he chuckles. “Maybe in Don 10 or Don 15, I’ll be in a wheelchair.”

Prod him on whether there are plans to take the franchise further, and the superstar retorts, “We hadn’t even thought of making Don 2 initially. It just so happened that some people sent Farhan (director-co-producer Farhan Akhtar) a story idea that justified the making of another Don film. The next Don too will have to be story driven and not made only with the intention of taking the franchise forward.”

Shah Rukh admits that he had a blast making Don — The Chase Begins and the recent Don 2 (2011). “It’s the first franchise I’ve worked in, and we had so much fun making these two movies that it would be great to revisit Don after sometime. But we need a script first, one that could take the last 10 minutes of Don 2 forward to another differently exciting thriller.”

The actor points out that as a director there’s so much more that Farhan wants to say, so many other ideas that he wants to tackle.

“Also, he’s an actor now and he may want to switch from direction to explore himself as an actor,” reasons Shah Rukh, pointing out that he now has a Yash Chopra love story with Katrina Kaif flagging off early next year and Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express with Kareena Kapoor waiting in the wings. “Don 3 is not on the cards right now but if people like part 2 and want to see the Don back, may be we will bond with him again, break ke baad (after the break).”

Don 2 - Two plates and a ham burglar

Imagine this. You're in prison. You haven't eaten all day. And someone tells you: You have 15 minutes to come up with a script for the Don sequel. And you can walk free.

No time to think. You start with the punchlines first. Obviously, you begin with the epic one that the 1978 film made popular. “Don Ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahin, Na Mumkin Hai”. You come up with a couple of good ones. But since you're running out of time, you just fill in Punchline Nos. 13, 26 and 49 with the same “Don Ko Pakadna” line.

Too much pressure. But you are in prison and need to get out. Fine, put that in the first act. Don is in prison. But wait, he can't get caught according to the best punchline you have. Ok, so he got himself in.

But why? You don't know. Ok, so you write “Don smiles mysteriously.” Ten minutes left.

You continue scribbling… Don is in prison. But Don has many a dushman (arch-enemy in Don-speak) there. Ok, let's say Don has come to break one of his enemies out of prison. Say Vardhan (Boman Irani). Why? You don't know. So you write “Don smiles mysteriously.” You can think of the why later.

Now you are really stuck.

All you can think of is prison and prison food. Stale fish served last week had inmates down with food poisoning. Brainwave. Engineer food-poisoning and break jail.

All that thought of food is getting you hungry. What you would not give for a plate of leftovers. A brainwave again. Don wants to steal plates. Plates? Five minutes left.

Focus. YOU want a plate of food. Don probably just wants to steal plates used to make money. How? Write “Don smiles mysteriously.”

Think harder. Don's a chase film. You can't just change genre and make it a heist film. That would be blasphemy. But you need to get out before prison gives you nightmares straight out of snuff porn films.

Fourteen minutes are up. Don steals the plates. How? Action scenes. Let action director figure that out. Also add, “Don smiles mysteriously.” Lame big shocking twist. Obvious one but time up. The End.

So you smile mysteriously and hand over your script. You're free.

It turns out that Farhan Akhtar who has ambitions of making a slick-looking film like Ocean's Eleven with stunts from Mission Impossible has already started shoot before he's read your script.

Since it's the sequel, the actors already know what they are doing. Shah Rukh Khan walks in suits, reels of slow motion shots are canned and bottles of hair gel are sacrificed, take after take.

Lara Dutta shakes it to the tune of the title track of the previous film since she's been told the song will be just like the old one.

Priyanka knows she has to say all her lines exactly the same way when she speaks to Don. With the emotion dripping out of a certain Beatles song that goes: “I want you. I want you so bad.”

SRK loves the punchlines. They glorify him. Wait till Sallu hears them.

“Let me do it again,” says Shah Rukh after every line. “A punchline needs to be delivered in style.” But Mr. Khan, there are some 50 punchlines in here, says the assistant director. “It's ok. They love me,” he opens his arms wide, smirks and delivers it like Punchline No. 51 looking at us.

They are at the scene where Don can just trigger off an explosion and escape but that would mean SRK doesn't get a chance to say a good line. “Well, we have to shoot Roma then,” says the action director. Bang. Roma is shot. And timing presents itself. “Little does Don's Dushman know that before he can make a move, Don has already made his next,” says Don. Boom.

The editor wishes his studio exploded and didn't have to put this together. But he's getting a fat cheque. He does his job to the best of his ability and is almost done when he hears that line “Don Ko Pakadna Mushkil hi nahin...”

Screw it, says the editor, stops it right before SRK could finish the line and walks out.

End credits slapped together with a song recorded even before the script was written. The film releases. And a critic scratches his head wondering if he should take this cheesy action entertainer seriously enough to dissect or analyse it.

“Ok, whatever I can type in 15 minutes,” he says.

Kolkata celebrates Shahrukh Khan's return as Don

With Shahrukh Khan lookalike as their main attraction, Shahrukh Khan's Fan Club here celebrated the release of the much-awaited film Don 2 today by bringing out a rally in favour of the superstar.

In the one-km long rally SRK look-alike Shahnawaz Khan was dressed up the way the 46-year-old actor dresses up as the ultra-classy villainous Don in the film.

Surrounded by members of the fan club clothed in police uniform, a band party played hit numbers from Don 2 and also from other SRK films as cars, bikes and banners bearing King Khan's hit dialogues added to the fanfare. More than 200 members of the fan club booked an auditorium at a multiplex and watched the morning show of the Farhan Akhtar directed 3D sequel to the 2006 action thriller.

The film's distributors and theatre owners say Don 2, which also stars Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani and Lara Dutta, has opened to packed halls across the city. In this sequel, the wicked and debonair Asian underworld Don, played by Khan, has his sights set on European domination by fighting against the existing European underworld and law enforcement agencies.

Don 2 also marks SRK's return as villain. His anti-hero performances in films like Darr (1993), Baazigar (1993) and Anjaam (1994), where he played an obsessive lover had received critical acclaim. SRK's last film Ra.One, a sci-fi released during this Diwali, had received mixed reviews and an average box-office performance.

Shahrukh Khan’s 'Don 2' takes Box Office by storm

It is surely going to be a very merry Christmas for Shahrukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani as their film Don 2 opened to a very good response at box office.

Released at 3105 screens (including 550 3D screens), the film raked in Rs. 15 crore nett on its opening day, despite Friday being a working day. The Christmas weekend will ensure a further spike in the collections and the estimates say the film might fare somewhere between Rs. 45-55 crore in its first weekend, which is exceptional. What remains to be seen is whether Don 2 manages to make more that Rs. 22.80 crore in any single day, a record (of highest single day collection for a Bollywood film) held by Shahrukh Khan’s previous release Ra.One.

Despite mixed critical reviews, the audience response has ranged between 70 to 90 percent at multiplexes. Some centres even ran housefull. The response, however, isn’t that terrific at single screens. It has ranged between 60 to 70 percent.

At overseas box office, the response to Don 2 has been very good. The film released in UK on Wednesday and made £202,000 in its first two days. The response was still better in the Middle East where the film made $385,000. It is expected that the total overseas collection of Don 2 might be in the range of Rs. 35 crore.

Now here's the latest picture on DON 2 in India and Overseas. ONLY on Bollywood Hungama…
The much-awaited DON 2 opened to a fabulous response at multiplexes at several centres in India. The widest release ever [3105 screens in India], the film embarked on a strong start from morning shows itself, garnering 100% figures at several screens, although a few plexes were in 70% to 80% range. The overall occupancy at plexes was 70%, as on Friday evening. There were brisk block bookings for evening and night shows at major multiplex chains, which will add to a fat total on Friday.

The single screens, however, were not too receptive in some circuits. Perhaps, the absence of a hit track [like 'Chammak Challo' in RA.ONE and 'Ooh La La' in THE DIRTY PICTURE] could be one of the main reasons behind it. But the writer spoke to several exhibitors across the country, who were optimistic of the business picking up in the evening/night shows.

Day 1 [Friday], as per early estimates, is likely to close at Rs 15 cr + nett figure.

Amitabh Bachchan is the original Don: Shahrukh Khan

On the eve of the release of his film Don 2, Shahrukh Khan described the 69-year-old Amitabh Bachchan as the “original Don”.

Talking with the media on Thursday, Shahrukh did not forget that it is Amitabh Bachchan, the Don in the 1978 movie, who is the original Don and not he (SRK).

“I have great respect for Mr. Bachchan. He is the original Don, and we all are inspired by him, which is why we mustered up some courage and Farhan, his team and I set out on this valiant venture to make Don, and then Don 2,” Shahrukh Khan candidly admitted.

Lately, there has been a lot of talk about Shahrukh Khan struggling to quit smoking. When asked, the superstar was frank in his reply.

“It's a very bad habit, and I will try hard to get rid of it. Maybe once Don 2 releases, and I return to my workouts, I'll make a conscious effort,” Shahrukh said.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is a bunch of nerves these days, and it seems he will remain so till his much-awaited film "Don 2: The King Is Back" hits the screens Friday. However, he says this nervousness gives him a big high.

Comic book on movies comes to India with 'Don: The Origin'

A graphic novel "Don: The Origin" narrating the genesis and story of "Don" and "Don 2" starring Shah Rukh Khan, is expected to draw new segments of younger audiences to reading -- at a time when cinema is pushing books to the edge.

The novel, conceived and scripted by director Farhan Akhtar of "Don" (2006) and its sequel "Don 2" which is set to release Friday, has been published by Om Books.

The bilingual graphic books coinciding with the release of "Don 2" -- a dark crime thriller with Shah Rukh as the anti-hero -- was unveiled by the cast and crew of the movie in the capital this week.

"A lot of people like reading comics during short breaks and in their cars. This ("Don: The Origin") is the first one in a series of comics that will narrate the making of popular and new movies. We will extend the series," Ajay Mago, the publisher of Om Books, told IANS.

"The graphic books were Farhan's idea and he approached us with it, followed by the Excel (Excel Entertainment) guys later. We had earlier published Shah Rukh's biography," Mago said.

The publisher said he was in touch with various filmmakers for more "film-related graphic novel projects".

The slim volume begins with the origin of Don in present-day Sicily. Don's "mentor" tries to blow up his car - but Don survives and returns to gun down his mentor... and don his boots. It is the beginning of Don's journey into the heart of the underworld.

For Farhan, who has loved comic books all his life, "it is a dream come true".

"... To think that a character that I have loved so much has been made into a comic," he said.

Mago said he was inspired to create the series by the comic books about the making of "Mission: Impossible" in the US and on the movie "Inception" (in 2010).

As a prequel to the movie "Inception", Warner Bros released a 35-page comic book, "Inception: The Cobol Job", about the movie by Jordan Goldberg.

"We had brought 60 copies of the "Mission: Impossible" book - an animation series about the day-to-day shoot of the movie - and they were sold out in three days," Mago said.

The "Mission: Impossible" graphic novel generated readers' interest in India because of the movie "Mission Impossible 4" starring Tom Cruise which was released recently, the publisher of Om Books said.

In 1996, Paramount Comics, a former comic book imprint of Marvel Comics, bagged the rights to publish comic books on "Mission: Impossible" and "Star Trek". Paramount Comics published a prequel to the first "Mission: Impossible" movie.

It was the second comic book version of the "Mission: Impossible".

The first comic book series in five volumes based on the original American television series "Mission: Impossible", starring Peter Graves in the 1960s, was published by Dell Books.

A pitch made for a comic book on "Sholay" failed to take off this year while Satyajit Ray's "Feluda" detective novels - which were adapted into movies - were made into a series of graphic novels by Penguin India in the last two years.

"In the US, the movie comic book is very common," Mago said.

Shahrukh loves his bad side, on screen!

Don 2 sees the return of Shahrukh Khan as a bad guy.

At the launch of the video game based on Don 2, Shahrukh said, “Evil or devil, black or little grey characters, be it in books, stories, films or television, have some sort of an attraction. I started with theatre and there was nothing like a heroic character. There was a central character or an important character. I have played good and bad on stage. When I joined films I got a chance to play these characters again.”

Shahrukh Khan also admits to the fact that playing a baddie, gives him a high.

“Now, after 15-20 years, I got a chance to play a negative character in Don. There is a justification for the character to be negative, to be bad. I enjoy doing it. I am in no way glorifying negative characters. These are stories and characters. But as an actor, it is one of the greatest highs to play a villain,” he said.

Don 2 will have SRK extending his role of a terrifying Don he already played in the film’s first installment in 2006.

“I was thrilled that I got this opportunity and I did not think of the hero type roles. Now that I am getting a chance to play a negative role in ‘Don’ after so many years, there is justification to it and being bad is also important to take the world forward,” added SRK.

Don 2 releases on December 23.

Shahrukh Khan finally decides to quit smoking!

Shahrukh Khan is a chain smoker and we all know that. We also know that the actor has been trying his best to quit smoking. However, this time, SRK seems pretty serious about quitting this bad habit.

Shahrukh’s close friend and well wisher, Hrithik Roshan has been helping the actor quit smoking by forwarding books talking about the bad side of smoking. However, Shahrukh says he is aware that smoking is a bad habit and that he doesn’t need any encouragement.

“I know this is a bad thing but the habit doesn’t leave me. I am trying hard. Even if someone says it to me or not, I know about the ill-effects of smoking. I will try it and give it up on my own. I know it is not a good thing,” Shahrukh said.

To begin with, Shahrukh Khan has cut down on the number of cigarettes he smokes.

“People ask me every day when I will quit smoking.. now I am feeling guilty. I am trying to smoke less,” he said.

“After Don 2 releases I will get some time to start working out, getting into healthier regime. I would like to say that smoking is a bad thing and one must not do it,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan has the gift of the gab and is known for his wit and humor. He comes across as a 'people's actor', shaking a leg with them at approximately every event and his fans claim to know SRK inside out, but the megastar thinks otherwise.

My life is not as open book, the way people consider it. When I come in front of you people, it is mostly work related. I feel that you people belong to the same business as me so the questions that you ask, I usually give a good and detailed answer to that,' told SRK here at the inauguration of his official opus 'King Khan - The Official Opus of Shah Rukh Khan'.

The actor, who has spent more than 23 years in the industry, tells his only motto is to entertain the public.

'I have done so many films that it becomes difficult to find something new. I want that if people want to work with me, I should have something new to tell from the work that I have done. I want to continue entertaining people the way I have.'

'I want to entertain the kids, the wives... I want to make movies through which I can entertain the entire family for a few hours,' he told.

The actor has been a hit ever since he made an appearance in the popular TV serial 'Fauji' in 1988 and then 'Circus'. After his debut in Bollywood with 'Deewana' in 1992, he never looked back.

Shah Rukh is presently busy promoting his latest movie 'Don 2: The King Is Back', co-produced by him, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

He is also co-producing 'Student Of The Year' with Karan Johar.

Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra came to the Capital to promote Don 2, their next release. The duo shared an infectious vibe, floored all with wisecracks and performed on the number Dushman Mera.

They were here to release Don 2 comics ahead of the film's release on December 23.

SRK turned down a request to perform with his Don 2 co-star at first saying - "Don ko dance karna nahi aata", but later relented.

Delhi, though, is SRK's hometown, Priyanka Chopra too was given a warm welcome by Delhiites in the form of whistles and hoots, leading her to say, "Dilliwalon ko jungli billiyan bahut pasand hai."

When asked what's jungli billi's choice? The lady in black was quick to reply. "Jungli Billi ko bhi kutte bahut pasand hai," pointing toward SRK. SRK was quick to make a barking sound and interestingly asked the audience to do the same - "whoof, whoof," soon the sound reverberated in Metro line.

While performing on the song Dushman Mera, the duo hardly looked like jungli billi and err...kutta. Though they are hardly romancing each other in the film, their chemistry was rocking off-screen.

While Priyanka was clad in jeans and jacket, SRK, the Don, skipped winter wear in Dili Ki Sardi. He merrily hopped around in jeans and a cheque shirt. Don ko sardi nahi lagti? Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani too were suitably dressed for the weather.

SRK recently disappointed his Patna fans when he failed to promote his film there due to security issues. But he promises to visit Patna on December 22. On being asked if he's taking lesson in Bihari language, the actor wittily replied, "I will learn Bihari (language) from Priyanka Chopra. Afterall, she's from Jamshedpur."

But he certainly didn't disappoint Delhi as he mouthed his famous dialogue from Don 2 before signing off - "Don ka dushman jab tak apni agli chaal sochta hai, Don apni chaal chal chuka hota hai."

Shahrukh and Salman at the same party! Any luck??

Off late, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, the famous Bollywood foes have been bumping into each other a little too frequently, the latest being Ritesh Deskhmukh’s birthday bash.

Well, Riteish celebrated his birthday on Saturday night. Shahrukh Khan made an entry around 1 am, while Salman Khan was already in, partying in full swing.

Eye witnesses say, Salman was seen enjoying the party with his brothers Sohail and Arbaaz, director Shirish Kunder and Sajid Nadiadwala, while SRK was quite, standing in one corner with Mushtaq Sheikh, Arjun Rampal and Karan Johar.

“Shah Rukh simply went up to Riteish and wished him. He also was seen chatting to a few other Bollywood stars who are close to him,” Said the eyewitness.

As soon as SRK made an entry, Salman Khan got a little uncomfortable.

“Once Shah Rukh entered the party, Salman stopped interacting with too many people as well. He stayed put in his corner with his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail. Shirish Kunder and Sajid Nadiadwala kept them company,” said the eyewitness.

However, Salman left the party first. Shah Rukh stayed put for a while. “The tension eased after Salman left the party,” informed the witness.

Playing villain one of the greatest highs: SRK

Years ago his portrayal of negative characters in films like 'Baazigar', 'Darr' and 'Anjaam' had brought acclaim to Shah Rukh Khan, who is now back again with such a role in Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2: the King is Back'.

It started with Abbas-Mustan thriller 'Baazigar' in which SRK played a negative role. Yash Chopra's 'Darr' (1993), a psychological thriller, was the story of an obsessive lover played by Shah Rukh, to get his lady love Juhi Chawla, who was

already married to another man. A similar storyline in 'Anjaam' had the actor play a bad guy opposite Madhuri Dixit in the female lead.

'Baazigar'and 'Darr' took his career to new heights and established him as an acclaimed actor in Bollywood.

Ask him if the negative characters are liked and memorable, Shahrukh says, "Evil or devil, black or little grey characters, be it in books, stories, films or television, have some sort of an attraction. I started with theatre and there

was nothing like a heroic character. There was a central character or an important character. I have played good and bad on stage. When I joined films I got a chance to play these characters again."

"Now, after 15-20 years, I got a chance to play a negative character in 'Don'. There is a justification for the character to be negative, to be bad. I enjoy doing it. I am in no way glorifying negative characters. These are stories and

characters. But as an actor, it is one of the greatest highs to play a villain," he said.

'Don 2' is the squel to Farhan Akhtar's 2006 film, 'Don: The Chase Begins Again', which itself was a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 'Don'.

Shah Rukh to visit Patna Dec 22?

Shah Rukh Khan, who had to cancel his "Don 2 - The King Is Back" promotional trip to Patna for security reasons, will reportedly visit the Bihar capital Thursday. Filmmaker Prakash Jha says he takes the responsibility of security arrangements.

Last week, (December 13) SRK had to cancel his trip to Patna at the last minute and it left thousands of his fans bitterly disappointed. Patna District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh says the information about security threat to SRK during Patna visit came from Prakash Jha's multiplex Cinepolis, which is part of the Patna mall owned by him.

Efforts are now on to pinpoint the personnel at Cinepolis who misinformed Shah Rukh's entourage regarding the security arrangements.

A source close to SRK's entourage said: "This time we can't afford any glitches. We don't know why we were stopped from visiting Patna last week. But Shah Rukh is very keen not to disappoint his Patna fans."

"He's accommodated Patna into his tight schedule and he'll be flying down from Lucknow to Patna on Thursday. This time we aren't taking any risks. Yes, Shah Rukh won't be meeting his fans at Mr Prakash Jha's mall. The venue is being changed."

Jha is very upset with the mega-star's aborted visit to Bihar's capital and says he's willing to take personal charge of the security when SRK visits Patna this week.

"I feel outraged on a personal level and as a man from Bihar who has been trying to improve Bihar's image in Bollywood. So many stars from Mumbai, including Bachchan Saab (Amitabh Bachchan), have been to Patna. I can't understand why the security arrangements couldn't be good enough," said Jha angrily.

He added that the official organisers of Shah Rukh's visit should have given the administration more time to prepare for the visit.

"The mall takes full responsibility for Shah Rukh's security. I'd like him to know that during his visit to Patna his safety is my responsibility," Jha said.

As Priyanka Chopra awaits the back-to-back release of two ambitious remakes - Don 2 and Agneepath - the actress is also busy shooting for Barfee, Kunal Kohli's next and Krrish 3.

Ques: Your character in Don 2 character is being labelled as Jungli Billi. Are you a Jungli Billi off-screen as well?

Priyanka: Yes, I am quite a Jungli Billi. I stand up for myself and I won't tolerate being treated badly. That's jungli enough.

Ques: Does your character, Roma, go through a transformation in this film?

Priyanka: Yes, she has evolved in the last four years. She goes through a change in her beliefs and in her personality. She is angrier and more upset. It was very difficult to act in a sequel because you had to take the same character you played the first time round and make it more interesting. But Farhan (Akhtar, the director) has written all our characters brilliantly. Don 2 has some incredible dhishoom-dhishoom action, banging cars etc. And I get to do some incredible action sequences like automobile chases. There is a fist fight that my character gets into too. I had to prepare for all my action sequences.

Ques: Now that you have worked with Shah Rukh again, has he become your buddy?

Priyanka: I don't think we can ever be backslapping buddies. He has always been somebody I have admired and seeing such an amazing actor on set is a pleasure. I feel a tremendous amount of respect for him.

Ques: Do you ever envision a Don 3 or Don 4 with playing the Don?

Priyanka: No, let him be the Don. I'd much rather be the Jungli Billi (laughs).

Ques: You have done two remakes, Don and Agneepath, back-to-back. Which character was tougher to play?

Priyanka: In Agneepath, I play a lower middle class Maharashtrian girl, so to draw on that character was very interesting for me. Don is a slick, cool, action film. Both the characters were challenging and different.

Ques: Have you had a chance to see Katrina Kaif's item number, Chikni chameli from Agneepath yet?

Priyanka: I have seen bits of the song. I have been shooting for three films at the same time so I haven't really gotten around to seeing the full song yet. I am really excited about Katrina being a part of Agneepath, because it will add so much to the glory of the movie. I love the song, and she will be incredible in it.

Ques: Speaking of which, songs and music have suddenly assumed major importance in your life - you will soon be debuting with your own music album!

Priyanka: Music was something that I was always very fond of and this was an interesting opportunity that came my way. Now let's see where it goes. I am not really thinking about it and putting pressure on myself. I will wait to see when it happens.

Ques: In what way have you collaborated with international star Jay Sean for your album?

Priyanka: Jay has written a couple of songs for my album. But eventually the songs that stay in the album will be the ones the label takes. We worked together and wrote a few songs and had lot of fun doing it.

Ques: Are you a trained singer?

Priyanka: I trained in Western Classical music while I was in the US.

You have written the lyrics for your songs in the album. So what do they reveal about your personality?

Priyanka: (Laughs) Well, lyrics are a reflection of one's personality. It is not like I am going to be writing gossip about myself. I am a very private person but I spill a lot of my personality into my songs and in the lyrics I write.

Ques: What kind of music do you like listening to?

Priyanka: I love listening to a lot of house, hip-hop and pop music. At the same time, I like listening to Bollywood songs as well. My biggest musical influence has been my father. Music is his hobby so I grew up on music. I have woken up in the mornings to Mohammed Rafi, Lataji and Ashaji. I have always been very musically inclined.

Ques: Do you have any plans for singing your own songs in Hindi films?

Priyanka: Not yet. Everything depends on how I am accepted.

Ques: Coming back to films, you have quite a mixed bag coming up - Krrish 3 with Hrithik Roshan, Barfee opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Kunal Kohli's next with Shahid Kapoor.

Priyanka: I always like to do different genres of movies. We have done only three-four days of shooting for Krrish 3 as yet; and I am very excited. It's great to get back on the set with everybody from the earlier team.

Ques: Kunal Kohli's film has an amazing script and I wanted to work under his direction.

Priyanka: As for Barfee, it was a tremendous challenge because it's a comedy yet at the same time I am playing an autistic character.

Ques: What barfee do you like best?

Priyanka: Kaju katri. I eat it whenever I can get my hands on some.

Zee acquires satellite rights of Don 2 for Rs. 37 crores

Farhan Akhtar's much awaited Shah Rukh Khan starrer Don 2 may be a week away from release but the film has already begun to rake in the moolah.

The buzz is that Zee Entertainment Enterprise has acquired the satellite broadcast rights of Don 2 for an estimated Rs. 37 crores. This is one of the biggest satellite deals to have taken place in recent times.

Don 2 has generated tremendous buzz ever since it was announced. Besides SRK, the film stars Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, Om Puri and Boman Irani.

Don 2 releases all over on December 23.

Bollywood Hungama's Divya Rajani talks to the supremely talented Vinay Pathak about his upcoming films, working with co-star Neha Dhupia, being stereotyped as a simpleton and more.

Tell us something about your character in the film Pappu Can't Dance Saala?
I play the role of Vidyadhar Acharya, who comes from an educated upper class family in Banaras, he is well read and educated. He gets a job in Mumbai so he moves there. As everyone knows, the living arrangements in Mumbai are a little tricky if you don't have a house of your own. He goes through a lot of turmoil in order to rent an apartment and finally he finds one and that's where he meets his neighbour Mehak Malavde (Neha Dhupia), who is diametrically opposite to what he is. She is a bindas young girl who loves enjoying her life, she keeps having parties and keeps calling her friends over for drinks and dance. They keep judging each other for their choice of profession and the place they come from. Vidyadhar doesn't like Mumbai, he feels that the people in Mumbai have no understanding of language, it's a very crowded city, he has problems with everything because he is like a fish out of water who is trying to adjust in a big city but is finding it very difficult.

How is Neha as a co-star?
Neha is a wonderful co-star, we have been friends and have done many films together but this one is special because this film is about us and the turf is ours. Its like two kids have been shown a playground full of toys and they are told that nobody is going to play but you, so you can imagine how happy those two kids would be. We felt exactly like those two kids.

Don't you think you are being stereotyped as the simpleton/ common man especially in those films where you played the lead?
Vinay Pathak Well you could say that Shah Rukh Khan is also stereotyped as the simple lover boy except for a few films, so how can this tag be put on me? I have played different roles in all my films like Dasvidaniya, Johnny Gaddaar, Khoya Khoya Chand. Even in Chalo Dilli, I didn't play a simpleton, I played a crass, loud mouth and uncouth guy. Would you want to be seated with a guy like that in an airplane? But you wouldn't mind getting seated with somebody like Amar Kaul (Dasvidaniya) or an entertaining person like Bharat Bhushan. I think it is a little unfair to tag me as a simpleton; you need to look at the character, the film and the story. Ninety nine percent of the Bollywood films have the male characters as a simpleton. That is just a distinction of the class and community he comes from, that is not the character. If you see even the films Mr. Amitabh Bachchan did in the 80s and 90s that gave him the tag of 'Angry young man'. That doesn't mean that he was typecast, it just means that he had an image and that image and persona were exploited by different story tellers in different stories. If I am doing the loud comedy in every film you can definitely accuse me but you have to see my films to realize that I have selected all the stories that are very different from each other be it Khoya Khoya Chand, Johnny Gaddaar, Straight or Jism. Just because Bheja Fry and Bheja Fry 2 were superhits and Chalo Dilli also is also a comedy, you can't tag me like that.

Why is it that you work with the same set of people like Rajat, Ranvir and Saurabh all the time?
Not true again, it's a speculated image in the media. If you look at all of us together we might have 8 to 10 films together but in our careers everybody has done more that 35 to 40 films individually, so isn't that a wrong accusation. Besides, people love it when we are together because they can see the amount of fun we have and tell a story that everybody wants to be a part of. If you actually do a research, there are about 200 films between us and we have worked together on maybe 10 films together so that makes it only 5 percent. Now don't you think that it is unfair to tag us like that? Having said that, I would like to add that from our gang, two of our friends and fellow actors are filmmakers and there are three-four actors wanting to be filmmakers, we are like-minded people who share similar sensibilities, enjoy each others company and we are best friends so why wouldn't we want to hang out, have fun and make cinema together which we love the most

What about your upcoming film?
The next film I start shooting for is Anant Mahadevan's Gour Hari Dastaan, which I am very excited about as it is based on a true live event. I have also done a cameo in Midnight's Children.

Any plans of turning director?
Aap ke mooh mein ghee-shakar and Godiva's best dark chocolates. Hopefully soon I will be directing a film.

Will SRK make it big again with DON 2's baddie act?

Less than a week remains for the release of DON 2 and while the world waits to see whether it surpasses the effort that was put in DON - THE CHASE BEGINS, those who have had a dekko at the film claim that Shahrukh Khan is far meaner and wittier this time around.

Says a source, "When work began on DON 2, Shahrukh wanted his character to be really mean. Ever since his earlier days in the industry when he had won quite a few awards as a villain, Shahrukh's 'bad' side hasn't been seen. For makers too, the job was easier this time around since it's out in open that Shahrukh would be playing Don right through the film (unlike the first installment where he had to balance it with a 'Vijay' act) and there is no added effort required for them to establish his characterisation."

"Yes, this time around he is simply Don. There is no pretence whatsoever and there are no dual shades that Shahrukh has to demonstrate. He does the kind of things Don is expected to do and mouths the kind of lines that are required from him," says Farhan Akhtar, "Of course even as a baddie, he does bring an immense amount of charm and flamboyance. There is an understated quality and style that he brings on board while at the same time he is extremely aggressive with arrogance as his core virtue. This is what makes him all the more magnetic."

Once you have established his character in the first installment, the following sequels would basically build from that point on instead of chartering into unnecessary territories. Anything that removes corruption would be right

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan said any process for the eradication of the corruption, including enactment of Lokpal bill, would be a right thing to pursue.

Shah Rukh, who is currently on the promotion tour for the upcoming film Don 2, however steered clear of controversy by refusing to comment on Anna Hazare.

This was not the proper platform, he said.

"The process to eradicate corruption is a must for every one. This is a very important aspect, whether movement against corruption, act or a bill. It would be beneficial in the long term. I do not want to say anything on anybody," said the actor, accompanied by Priyanka Chopra and Farah Khan.

On Vidya Balan, he said, "Vidya has done very well in the The Dirty Picture. Hence it was a great hit. We are proud of her role and her acting."

To another question, SRK said he had once acted in a play in Indore, and wants to do it again.

Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra in Jaipur to promote 'Don 2'

As a part of the campaign to promote Don 2 in seven cities across India, the film’s team comprising Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar will meet the fans in Jaipur on Friday.

The promotional event is being held at Crystal Palm mall in Jaipur. However, Shahrukh Khan won’t be able to make it on time as he was stuck in Ahmedabad as the plane developed a technical snag.

“Still stuck in plane with spoilt flaps can't take off from ahmedabad. Waiting for plane from mumbai..will meet all jaipur now in the morning... Sorry guys one of those technical plane thingies. Will make it up to u guys and girls at the mall in the morning...reaching jaipur by 1 am” Shahrukh wrote on his twitter page.

The programme at the mall is planned around 11am.

“Morning all.. In Jaipur, finally! 5 hr delay last evening!! Anyway, all's well that ends well.. See you soon!” Farhan Akhtar, the film’s director, tweeted.

Priyanka Chopra seemed excited about the promotional event and wrote: “Morning Jaipur... feels great to be in your city! Catch the entire Don team at Crystal Palm Mall at 11:00 am today. Cant wait 2 see u guys.”

Don 2 is slated to release on December 23.

Nawab Shah plays villain in Don 2

He has spent 11 years in Bollywood. But it’s only now that Nawab Shah, the villain opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Don 2 , has seemingly hit the big league. So much so that Shah Rukh has gone all out to praise his work and Gorgeous Drop-dead Good Looks. But not many know that Nawab, by a stroke of bad luck, missed the chance to work in Shah Rukh’s friend-turned-foe Salman Khan’s blockbuster Bodyguard.

“Yes, I couldn’t do Bodyguard because of an accident. At that time, I was recovering from it and wasn’t in a position to shoot for a film,” says Nawab.

“Atul Agnihotri, producer had given me the script and told me that I am playing an important part in the film. But after the accident, I with a very heavy heart had to return the script. But I don’t regret it. Maybe better and bigger things are in store for me. But I would have loved to work with Salman.”

In Don 2, Nawab too plays one of the baddies along with Shah Rukh.

I have known Farhan Akhtar, director for a long time. I had a small part in Lakshya (2004) too. So, when he asked me to be a part of Don 2, I immediately said yes because my part is very interesting.

Also, it’s one of the most important characters in the film,” says Nawab.

Nanwab feels he is lucky to be part of such a huge franchise.

“Working with Shah Rukh was a wonderful experience because he is a superstar and a very nice human being. For me, Don 2 is an important point in my career because I have seen a lot of struggle in my life and career,” he says.

Don 2 is also important to the actor since it signifies his comeback after his serious car accident at the Jim Corbett National Park, in Uttaranchal, earlier this year.

Till date, Nanwab has worked in films like Lakshya besides playing Preity Zinta’s brother in Salman-Akshay Kumar film Jaan-e-Mann (2006). But now, he is waiting for the release of Don 2.

“I haven’t signed any new film at the moment. I am waiting for Don 2 to release. Then, I will take a call on other films,” he says.

Apart from making available the soundtrack of Don 2 for download, Hungama mobile has also created a voice game, Don Ka Gang, based on the movie. The game offers 10 players a chance to get lucky and meet Don Shah Rukh Khan himself.

Don Ka Gang hasa set of challenges that players have to overcome in order to finish each level and thus be included in the final 10. Each level gets even harder than the earlier one, but takes players closer to the reward.

Shahrukh Khan afraid to share seat with Salman Khan?

Arch rival Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan recently bumped into each other inside an aircraft. The news doing the rounds is that Shahrukh Khan was so shocked to see Salman Khan that he got down from the aircraft.

Shahrukh Khan recently boarded a business class of an aircraft to Delhi where he was expected to endorse a brand. Meanwhile, Salman Khan, along with the entire cast and crew of Ek Tha Tiger was already seated in the aircraft. As per sources, as soon as Shahrukh spotted Salman seated in the business class of the aircraft, he panicked and made some hurried calls after which he walked out of the aircraft.

It all began when one of Salman Khan's close sources Blackberry status read, “Bodyguard scared Superhero away.”

However, Shahrukh Khan's aides have a different tale to tell. SRK's sources say that Shahrukh Khan had earlier planned to travel in a private jet. However, something went wrong at the last minute, and he decided to travel in a commercial aircraft. However, just when he was ready to seat himself, he received a call saying the jet was ready.

Well, well.....whatever the reason, this is for sure that Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan have turned big time rivals!
